"Nice hotel, helpful staff"

10.0

The hotel was very clean and our room was a good size. Not the most modern, but perfectly acceptable standard. The pillows were very flat and there was only one per person, but when we asked they gave us extra pillows without any problem. The location is not in the poshest area, but it felt safe and there was plenty of activity/food places/bars around. It was a short walk to the ballet, and a long-ish walk to the centre of town, or a very short metro ride away. The metro is very cheap and easy to navigate. When we arrived we weren't entirely sure that the staff were particularly polite by western-Europe standards, but to be fair they were also dealing with a very large tour party that had just arrived. We then had a problem with a visa for one of our party, and the staff couldn't have been more helpful, and went beyond the call of duty to help us sort out the problem. There are a very large number of tour groups that use this hotel - this is fine, but it means that reception and the lobby can be very busy at times.

"A nice surprise overall."

8.0

This hotel is well-located. Close to attractions, shops and restaurants. The metro station is 15 minutes by foot. The hotel itself is well-kept together. The breakfast buffet is really good though a bit expensive (850 RUB = £17). The Vernissage restaurant has a panoramic view of the city (the breakfast is also served at this restaurant). The whole hotel gives you access to FREE WiFi. The only thing of which you should be aware when you arrive at Saint Petersburg is the registration fee, which will be added on your final bill at check-out. It's the equivalent of a hospitality tax. This tax is imposed by the city - The amount is about £4 per person.

"A great first impression of Russia!"

10.0

Excellent location for anyone attending the Mariinsky Theatres. Exceptionally good in-house food, so we were surprised that so few people were enjoying the 590-ruble lunch. We realized how good the food was because we had arrived late, after the restaurant had closed, and were delighted to have a wonderful borsch with excellent Argentinian red wine in the 9th floor bar. We don't often eat in hotel restaurants, but decided to stay in for lunch the next day. Shuttles reasonably priced for Russia, and very good service. All staff helpful and friendly. We were particularly impressed with the bellman Jasur, who speaks very good English and is very knowledgeable.

"Excelent location and very good service"

10.0

The hotel is very close to metro stations Sennaya and Sadovaia. The room is very comfortable and spacious, very clean and tidy. From the hotel, you can walk to Marinski Teathre. There is also a park nearby. Concierge service from 8 am to 8 pm. Very attentive employees. They offfer a paid shuttle to and from the airport.

"Nice hotel but a bit of a walk to sites"

8.0

A comfortable hotel with pleasant reception staff. An easy walk to St. Isaacs Cathedral. The beds were very comfortable and the rooms were very clean. We didn't eat at the 9th floor restaurant because we were on a budget and it was above our limit ($60 for a steak). We did have some issues with our rooms though. There were no face cloths, the fridge in one of our two rooms was not working, the blackout shade did not work in one room, and the maids were still finishing up restocking the minibars when we checked in, which was after 5pm.
