Hotel Maria del Carmen Merida

i dont understand how this hotel have 3 stars because the breakfast staff was very unfriendly not even a hello, the breakfast was very light: for ex one butter and one jam for 3 person, the room smelled like sewers, the bin where we had to put the paper toilet wasnt even closed, our window was not openable, no fridge, the air conditioning was very loud so you couldn’t sleep with it.

Awesome service, located just a few blocks from main plaza. Quite, great food. We like to get up early and cafeteria open at 7 am. A little late for me.

This hotel is close to the city center, in quite a good location. There are rooms facing the road and ones facing the pool. There is quite loud sound of machinery in the road facing rooms. The windows do not open. My room was large and comfortable with a big bathroom there was a coffee machine . The room was clean. Breakfast was included in our rate and it was good value for the rate we paid. It could do with some modernizing and perhaps some method of opening the windows or ventilation. The air conditioning worked but was very cold . There is a swimming pool.. it is very convenient for getting into the center of town and the restaurants. There is a laundry very close.

Horrible hotel. Rooms were full of mold. The whole building smelled really bad, including the rooms. Rooms were dirty and full of dust. The elevator did not work well.

Good location. Close to the center and bus station. Friendly staff and clean hotel. I would stay here in the future.

This is an extremely noisy hotel. It's impossible to sleep before 12 am. Even if there is nobody in the poolside they constantly turn on the music with maximum level. I phoned the reception to turn off the music as it was 11 pm (because I was told that the pool bar is open until 10 or 11 pm.) to be able to sleep. They did after half an hour. Plus, the hotel guests are also very noisy. They feel very free to make noise shouting each other etc, high volume of laughters ec. Nobody intervene from the staff. I would not recommend to stay. On the other hand, I requested to have breakfast 30 mins earlier or if it was not possible I said I would be appreciated if they could prepare me something small as I needed to check out early. They said no. I previously worked in an hotel for 6 years and I never said no for the guests who asked breakfast box (fully) even if the restaurant was closed. Since the breakfast starts at 7 am, the restaurant guys should be there at least 6 or 6,30 am. So they could do if they wanted. It's not a big deal for me but it's a bad reputation for the hotel. Overall, if I come to Merida again, I definitely stay somewhere else.
