Hotel Continental Mare

We were celebrating our 20th Wedding Anniversary and the lovely receptionist surprised us with the same beautiful room that we had for our honeymoon there along with a bottle of champagne. It made our anniversary extremely special.

I was initially worried that we had given ourselves too much time on the island, 10 full days/12 nights. I soon realised that we hadn’t, as our hotel offered the perfect opportunity for us to sit back and relax, whilst also seeing the island. Our room was simply, yet comfortably furnished with a wonderful view of the bay. We loved the choice of three bathing choices, though we stayed mainly in the smaller garden pool area. Never overcrowded, no fighting for beds and a peaceful area in which to relax. Breakfast offered a good selection and staff were attentive. The lunch menu was extensive, great quality, generous in size and good value. Again staff friendly and attentive. Regrettably we never took dinner, though the menu and value looked excellent. Separately there’s a useful short cut to the Port, a hotel golf buggy that will on request, take you to the top of the quite steep and twisty hotel drive, to the bus stop, more or less outside the hotel entrance. The hotel shuttle also works well between 1000-1600. A must visit, is the island of Procida where we spent around 4 hrs, or so, having we had sufficient time to see the key places. We loved our time in Ischia, a gem that’s escaped mass tourism and thoroughly enjoyed everything about the hotel.

A l'arrivée l'hôtel semble être un peu désuet mais l' emplacement est idyllique, vue mer magnifique aussi bien de la chambre que du restaurant, du bar ou de la piscine. Chambre confortable avec terrasse table chaises et transats et vue splendide. Shuttle à disposition pour se rendre au port. Un accès par une porte détournée vous permet de vous rendre au port à pied en 10 minutes. L'hôtel dispose de 2 piscines, une plutôt destinée aux nageurs et une de détente dans un écrin de verdure et à proximité du bar et de la salle de restaurant. Un arrêt de bus situé à l'entrée de l'hôtel. Petit déjeuner varié et copieux. Accueil très agréable et de bons conseils prodigués par le personnel. à conseiller.

Le petit point à améliorer : le mobilier, tout à fait correct, de la salle de bain pourrait être rafraichi.

Immaculate grounds lots of areas to relax. Our villa had exceptional views and staff were very accommodating, sunrise from our villa was amazing no filter needed, and we loved the pontoon
