Mövenpick Hotel Mactan Island Cebu

We booked a family room for our stay. It was a wonderful space! Two large bedrooms with en suite bathrooms and a spacious living/dining room. It had 3 balconies and was very well lit. This was the only positive aspect to our stay. Unfortunately, the entire stay was impacted by the constant smell of sewage (the lobby and beach were horrible) and the infernal noise of karaoke in the neighborhood (going well past midnight). The hotel is also located next to a port area so it was busy with people and barking dogs. The hotel felt dated (moldy smelling carpets, tired looking paint), and needed maintenance (air conditioning units that drip on your head at the reception desk), and had missing touches that a hotel of this caliber should have (ex. no cushions for the loungers by the pool/beach). In addition, the pre-booked spa appointments didn't happen because there seemed to be communication issues with the Del Mar spa staff. Overall, I would not recommend this hotel. There is a fabulous hotel next door that will meet your 5 star hotel expectations!

I didn't want to leave! From the moment we were picked up from the hotel, we were treated with 5* care! Chrismas at the Movenpick just hits differently: Staff putting on dance routines Santa arriving on an e-bike! Theatre worthy shows Amazing buffet of western, traditional and korean dishes The restaurant staff in the Sails restaurant were super friendly and helpful. They moved around the restaurant with grace and thoughfulness. They were always on top of our needs. Special shout out to Ana, Kim, Jay, Ritchie, Lester, Erinn, Justine and Raymond (by the pool). Genuinely wonderful and friendly people. Analyn at the Spa gave me the most amazing Balinese massage with her magic skillful hands! I fell asleep several times and felt so relaxed afterwards. Front of house was so helpful and understanding - Gammy, Ken, AJ. Not forgetting Mark on the beach who ran up and down from the bar to our beach side numerous times a day! Room 1611 + 1612 can be joined. The view is facing the sea. Not to be confused with a coastal view which overlooks the pool and beach. The water pressure and temperature was great in 1611, not so good in 1612! We were lucky enough to see a blue star fish on our first day.

Words can’t describe how incredible the staff is at the Movenpick. Since our first day here, my family and I have been taken care no matter how small or big the request. The front desk staff is so kind and welcoming, Kenneth helped us with our luggage and was always there to answer our questions with a smile on his face. Our housekeeping staff has been so diligent and helped us when we needed more things. We attended their New Years Party and the service was just as good! The staff went above and beyond, even made the whole party more fun with their energy, positivity, and joy. Shoutout to Don for giving my family the best New Year’s Eve experience. Isabella is the Zumba instructor at the beach and her energy is so infectious. The whole waiting staff is so kind and polite and even after a long night they are still working so hard for the guests. Thank you to Lester, Ken, June, Heazel, and Gio (and so many more staff). I wish this staff the very best and their service is worth a stay at the Movenpick.

We stayed at this hotel and we absolutely loved it excellent customer service every one is so nice and polite the manager of the hotel was very professional and made sure we have everything that we needed to make out stay in the hotel is comfortable thank you for that. Breakfast was delicious lots of varieties to choose from very fresh fruits and vegetables delicious desserts we give it 10out of 10 especially to one of our waitress by the name of JERALICA INTERN seh has provided us with excellent customer service thank you very much for your hospitality ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🙏🙏🙏 This hotel is highly recommended.

Excellent customer service. Special recognition to Clere, Rochelle, Ej, Quim and Melch - their attentiveness to my wants and needs were exemplary. A beautiful hotel with nice amenities: nice big pool, cute beach, fully equipped gym, and nice seating areas in the lobby. I also enjoyed their broadway shows during the weekend.

Service is amazing !! People are very nice and genuine and will really help you if you need assistance on anything ( especially Don - who I’m not sure but think works in the bar/pool area) Atmosphere was amazing with a live show of singing and dancing almost everynight! The view from the rooms and even the whole resort is incredible! Room service and cleaning is consistent and very well done. Everyone is very accommodating and nice I would DEFINITELY be back here again some time soon :)

Overall this was a really lovely hotel and we would return! Location - great! Not too far from the airport 15-30 mins depending on traffic, 5 minutes to Mactan Newtown with lots of shops, restaurants and bus terminal. Food & Drink - we added breakfast to our stay which was lovely, plenty of choice some I would say more lunch time options but I’ve noticed that in a lot of the Philippines. We ate in all 3 nights due to taking trips and the length of our stay and all the food and drinks were really tasty and nice. I must say for the Philippines prices do seem really quite high especially when the small vendor across the street is 1/4 of these price for the same San Miguel Pilsner but this is what comes with a premium hotel. We brought some for our room as outside food and drink is not allowed in the pool area. Same bottles though :) Staff - all staff in the Philippines are extremely welcoming, say hello every time you see them and cannot do enough for you this was the same here! Room - we had a free upgrade to a one bedroom suite from a king deluxe which was nice and gave a lovely lounge area. It does make the bedroom a little smaller on space but the bathroom was a lot more modern than the images of the room we booked so overall we were happy with this. Lovely pool view, pillows I felt were a little too fluffy that became flat but there was an extra to top up height if needed. Pool/Beach - these areas are quite small but never full so we were always able to get a bed. Very clean areas with waiter service and umbrellas if wanted could be put up or down. For me the only downside was the jetty/marks cruise location next door which had really loud karaoke on in the mid morning and late afternoon and had a few boats coming and going for a tour especially at the weekend. I think this could have been helped with some pool and beach music in the hotel but there wasn’t any and unfortunately the Ibiza beach club was closed for renovations. We would stay again!

Really can't praise the Movenpick Cebu more highly. Had a brilliant stay, we visit Cebu regularly so we'll be back but for longer next time. Wonderful premises, we're a family of three so needed 2 bedrooms. Our rooms were spacious clean and well appointed. The grounds are lovely with excellent pool and private beach. But the real highlight for us were the staff. They looked after us so well with fun and humour without ever loosing their professionalism. True filipino hospitality.

It was a long weekend and I was in my planned-spontaneous mood. I know I like to got to Movenpick because of their expansive space. I know their beach is small, as limited as it is in Shangri-La Mactan. But the space is enough to lounge around, especially that there wasn’t much people at this time of the year. The food were good. But what I enjoyed there was the billiards tables. I was playing by myself and it was fine! I didn’t stay anymore for the movie night and whatever festivities they have at night. But overall, a good experience.
