NO EV CHARGER WHICH HAD BEEN ADVERTISED AND I HAD SPECIFICALLY SAID THAT I WANTED TO USE cooked food at breakfast had been sitting there too long

Our booking was cancelled at the very last minute, in fact the email telling us of the cancellation did not arrive until the following day. This was shocking and caused us a lot of distress,especially as the reason for our stay was to attend my partner’s brother’s funeral

From start to finish, Shivanghi and the manager Sujoy were absolutely amazing. They went above and beyond to make sure everything ran smoothly and made us feel completely looked after throughout the event. The food was outstanding — especially the BBQ — with plenty of variety and generous portions for all our guests. Everyone commented on how delicious the food was and how well everything was organised. The team paid incredible attention to detail and handled every part of the reception with care and professionalism. The staff were attentive, friendly, and always willing to help both us and our guests. Any last-minute requests were handled quickly without any stress, which really helped us relax and enjoy our special day. Communication throughout the planning process was excellent. Shivanghi was always checking in with us by email, keeping us updated, answering questions quickly, and making sure every detail was covered. Their support and organisation really helped make the whole experience stress-free. The hotel rooms were also excellent — clean, comfortable, and very welcoming. Our guests had a wonderful stay and praised how helpful and accommodating the staff were throughout. Thank you again to the whole team for making our wedding reception so memorable. We had booked this hotel to be able to attend my partner’s brother’s funeral in Thatcham. We arrived there about 45 minutes before the funeral in order to give us time to change for the service. When we got to reception, we were told that the booking had been cancelled that morning. When I checked my emails, the only email from Mercure that had arrived that morning was to tell me to check in online. The receptionist told me that I should have had an email from booking.com to tell me it has been cancelled. This did not arrive until today, 24 hours later. I had not dealt with booking.com before, just directly with the hotel. This was extremely distressing, as we then had only 30 minutes to find another hotel which had a room, and to change our clothes for the funeral. it could not have been worse timing.

We had our wedding there Saturday may 16th. We can't praise Shivangi and her team enough. She was with us every step of the way very Accommodating and professional in a personal way. If you are looking for a wedding venue we would highly recommend the Mercure Newbury Hotel.

Good location, easy to find

Mediocre breakfast facilities. Unfortunately if you get a room under the reception area, make sure you ask them to turn the music off otherwise you will still be awake in the early hours.

Convenient for what we wanted

It was a long walk from reception to our bedroom

Good location for a stop over on route to Heathrow
