Nice people, nice place , nice pool , nice bar

We stayed for 17 nights at the Hotel Residence San Pietro and were very satisfied with the stay. The hotel is conveniently located away from the heavily trafficked coastal road, but still close to good restaurants and shopping. We stayed in the newer part of the hotel which was nicely decorated, clean and well maintained. Our superior room with a balcony had a good size, with minibar, two chairs, a table and a large wardrobe and a large bathroom with a large shower cabin. As there are no carpets in either the corridors or the rooms, which is positive for cleaning and hygiene, it means some noise from the corridors, especially when some guests are talking recklessly loudly late at night and slam the doors instead of closing them. But I guess you can't have it all! The staff were friendly and very accommodating when we had questions. Breakfast was good with a large selection and we had a table reserved for our room every morning, so no worries about waiting for a table. The restaurant does not serve meals other than breakfast The pool area is nice and well maintained, with good sunbeds and umbrellas and you will be given a clean pool towel every day. In the pool bar you can buy drinks and snacks all day and a light lunch for two hours in the middle of the day. The only irritating thing for an older couple was when there were music played with a monotonous bass rhythm, which was annoying all the way up to the balcony and the room. We pointed it out a few times but it happened almost every day, so the staff must believe that this is what most guests want. There is free and stable wi-fi throughout the hotel, including in the pool area. All in all, a positive stay at Hotel Residence San Pietro which can be recommended.

Breakfast was very Italian with lots of sweets. It could be more versatile with more options, bacon and more vegetables😉

The location, the people running the hotel Francisco and Sara , and the service of other team members, and the rooms were new and clean and in great condition.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 nights and I would have loved to stay longer. Excellent location, walk to town, restaurants, beach and shops. Breakfasts were nice, lunch by the pool was amazing. The hotel staff are extremely nice and go out of their way to ensure your stay is the best. Super clean and our room was exceptional with a beautiful balcony and superior washroom. Do not hesitate to experience this hotel that has been cared for with love for generations.

A lovely hotel in a lovely village. The staff were so friendly and helpful. The hotel was clean and spacious and our room was beautiful. The area was nice and quiet and a short walk back into the centre of Maiori. Parking was easy. A great hotel for the Amalfi Coast.

Enjoyable 7 nights here in mid May 24 via TUI. Hotel is exceptionally clean and well decorated; lovely ceramic tiles in our room. Could not see any scuff marks anywhere in the hotel which suggests vigilant repainting of any blemishes. TV had only Italian channels, but was retuned at our request so we did at least have English/American news channels. Room had fridge, kettle, hairdryer (and a safe at extra cost). Free consistent Wifi. Comfortable bed. Towels changed regularly. The free aircon was generously made available during our stay (although only advertised as provided from June). We didn’t need to use it. Shower temperature could be inconsistent during times of high demand. Breakfast was basic but adequate eg cereals, ham and scrambled eggs, toast, honey, fruit, yoghurt etc with a selection of continental pastries. Some Gluten free provision. No evening restaurant/entertainment. Mix of European and North American guests. Mostly older age groups. Plenty of good restaurants nearby, some very reasonably priced – eg Osteria with pizzas starting at 5 Euros and gluten free options for all pizzas and pasta meals; also take away pizzas. Take your own cutlery and cardboard plates if you wish to buy nearby supermarket salads etc and dine in your room. Bit cramped around the small table in the room though ! Balcony has 2 chairs and low table - would be better with a higher table. Pool area was quiet and little used. Plenty of (good quality) sunbeds available. Pool not heated but very clean and not too cold. Closes 6.30pm. All hotel staff very friendly and helpful. Well spoken English. Hotel is a 10 minute stroll down a gentle gradient to the sea front promenade and main route Sita buses along the Amalfi coastline; 2 to 3 euros for most single local journeys – buy tickets at nearby kiosks before boarding bus, so allow a few extra minutes for this. Can avoid much of the slight gradient walk back to hotel via the easier flat road to the left (alongside the enclosed stream) with a small ‘short cut’ lane to the right beyond the police station. Hotel to the ferry terminal is a brisk 20/25 mins walk. Buy tickets in advance from promenade kiosks. Ferries north to Capri, Amalfi, Positano, etc, south to Salerno and its train station which is a 5/7 mins walk from ferry terminal. Buy train tickets in travel agent alongside station entrance and validate the tickets in the green platform machine before boarding train. Trains to Pompeii (we took the direct local route instead of via Naples) and high speed trains to Rome make day trips possible (approx 30 mins walk to Colosseum from Rome station or catch tube - we researched this but didn’t do it). We did Pompeii day out for around 50 Euros each including UNESCO site entrance by taking 9.25 ferry to Salerno the 10.46 train to Pompeii (33 mins) and 20 mins walk to the secondary Amphitheatre entrance (less queues than main entrance). Be aware there is another station in Pompeii slightly closer to the main entrance but via the Naples rail route. Return train to Maiori is just as easy but be prepared to catch a bus outside Salerno train station as we did - these run later than the last ferry. Signposting and numbered map in UNESCO site could be better ! Only one basic cafe inside near the centre of the site. Also visted Positano and Capri on separate days by ferry - be prepared for long standing queues for return ferries at Positano. Local beach is gritty grey volcanic sand. Sea not too cold in mid May. 5 sunny days, 2 cloudy, 1 with afternoon rain. Daytime temps mid twenties, evenings high teens. No sign of mosquitoes. We stayed here for 2 weeks and it was an excellent choice. Firstly we booked a twin room and we got a room with 2 bedrooms. Never had that before. The staff are very friendly. The hotel is spotlessly clean and the housekeeping staff do an excellent job. Breakfast is lovely with lots of choice of eggs, ham, cheese, bread, pastries etc. The 2 members of staff who attend the restaurant are very good. The pool area is lovely with comfortable sun beds. It was very quiet which we liked. The pool is very cold. The poolside restaurant serves lovely lunches and the staff again are very friendly. The location is also good about 10 minute walk from the seafront. Maiori itself is the flatest town on the Amalfi Coast. It's a lot quieter than other towns and a lot cheaper for eating and drinking out. The bus service is excellent, if not a little scary if sat in the front seats, to get around and we also used the ferry. We would highly recommend this hotel and this town

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the seafront, most of the walk along a pedestrian street with shops, cafe etc. The hotel is a bit dated, but the staff were really helpful and friendly. We booked a double room and got a room with 2 bedrooms, large bathroom, small balcony overlooking the pool. Very clean. Unfortunately the restaurant was closed due to staff shortage. Breakfast was ok. Maiori is not as crowded as Amalfi, and also a bit cheaper, it’s very easy to get to coast villages by boat.
