Craiglynne Hotel

We stayed in room 217 and it was terrible. Turned the heating down but due to the amount of pipes running round the floor it was far too hot. Also the shower was verging on dangerous as you could not control the temperature and I got burnt with the heat. I would not stay here again

We didn't have the breakfast but the location was good for the event we were attending with nice staff and we had comfy beds in a quiet room at the back of the hotel

The shower didn't work and you couldn't place one foot on the bedroom floor without it creaking very loudly

Room absolutely reeked of cigarettes, especially the curtain which stank every time we moved it. The carpet was quite dirty and so was under the bed. We were too exhausted to complain. Hotel looks great from the outside and is in a lovely location but it seems a bit lazily managed. Quite disappointed as the photos looked amazing

Bed was reasonably comfortable & the breakfast ok but very commercialised.

Generally a very tired hotel, not much to like here! I stayed in room 128, there was no WiFi in this room & unfortunately no phone signal either. There was water stains down one of the walls with a bucket on the floor to catch the drips. Three of the four bathroom lights didn't work so unable to shave etc in the light provided. The shower was filthy & mouldy. I had to boil the kettle on the floor as there was only one socket next to a table, it was either watch TV, dry your hair or boil the kettle! The wardrobe key was left on the floor & I was unable to unlock it to use it. A very bad experience, not to be repeated.

We arrived late and the front of house staff were quick to check us in. Checkout was efficient. We were in late and out before breakfast so this suited us.

The room was clearly old. Everything and every floorboard creaked. We had water tank in our room which must have supplied a lot of the room near us. From about 0500 it was working away and disturbing our sleep. Most of the plugs were hidden behind any piece of furniture in the room, you had to pull things away from the wall to access them. The tea cups were barely big enough for one sip of tea. The TV didn't work. There wasn't enough space on the sink to put any toiletries, and nowhere nearby to put things either. The shower had mould in the ceiling.

The breakfast was decent and most staff were friendly.

Although told we could get an early check, we were refused and had to change from a long car journey in the small public bathroom stalls. The whole hotel needs a refurb, our room had cracked walls and ceilings, peeling wallpaper and damaged walls. They need completely new bathrooms, one of the reasons we were told we couldn’t have an earlier check in is because it needed cleaned. When I went to have a shower the next morning I found two pubic hairs on the control panel of the shower. Severely disappointed as the outside of the hotel is beautiful.

Great breakfast, friendly staff. Nothing to worry about..
