Craiglynne Hotel

We were in a refurbished room at the back of the hotel which was excellen for us as we could take our dogs outside without going through reception. The room was clean and comfortable and not too noisy. We would request this room next time we stay.

The back area of the hotel is scruffy but otherwise the parts of the hotel we were in were perfectly adequate. We did not have breakfast or dinner at the hotel so cannot say what those were like.

Regular hot water in our bedroom would have been nice, hot water tap on basin was faulty and needed attention but despite numerous complaints to staff, it still hadn’t been repaired on our departure.

The amount of dust in my room was a health hazard

The beds were extremely uncomfortable for both of us. The mattresses springs dug into our backs and we did not sleep at all well. The soap dispenser in the bathroom was difficult to use and seemed to be empty. There were no glasses in the tumbler holders in the bathroom. There was a large piece of the toilet bowl broke off and looked unsightly as were the chips I. The enamel of the bath. On the plus side the bathroom was very clean, the water was hot and towels were pristine white.

Mattress worn out, no air conditioning, tv 18 inch, musky and smells like mildew.

Hôtel très beau de l’extérieur. Mais de l’extérieur uniquement … Chambre 123: moisi au plafond, mur qui se décolle. Tuyau de douche salle, robinets qui fuient, toilette qui fuit, plafond qui craquèle . Mauvais insonorisation… On ne peut pas ouvrir les fenêtres

We checked into the hotel and a young person, he did not identify himself, gave us the room key told us where to find the room. No welcome and did not check payment details. The room is a walk through the bar, through the restaurant, a porch area and then you find the room. The room itself was gloom but did look like it had been refurbished in the past few years. The cleanliness was appalling, the ceiling light was full of dead flies and other bugs. The wall under the tea and coffee station was stained with tea and coffee. The surfaces were covered in dust, as were the table legs. The shower in the bathroom had dirt on the shower screen and had not been cleaned in a while. The glasses in the bathroom still had water in them from the previous guests. I got the impression that the staff forgot they were there for the benefit of paying guests and not themselves. The Management need to provide training and ensure al of the staff are presentable. Breakfast the following morning was OK except the staff shouting across the dining room to each other. I went to check out and was asked if we enjoyed our stay and I had nothing to pay. I asked if he was sure as I knew I had a balance to pay as we were not asked for this on arrival. He then check and said 'oh yes you do'. If I had not mentioned this how was the hotel going to obtain the payment. I then passed on my comments regarding the housekeeping and lack of cleanliness, who knows if the comments will be addressed. Going by the previous reviews it would seem unlikely. I asked how I can provide feedback and was given a card with an e-mail address to send my feedback and this would be sent onto the General Manager. I would encourage anyone looking to stay in this hotel to find somewhere else, I know I would never return here.
