Summer House Cairns

Grand hostel avec piscine, terrain de volley, slack line, billard et table de ping pong ; de quoi s'amuser pour passer une semaine à Cairns. L'hostel est un peu loin du centre ville mais la shuttle permet d'y accéder facilement. Merci à Justine, la manageuse pour son dévouement et sa sympathie.

Auberge très bruyante qui peut être fatiguant. Cuisine vraiment petite pour la quantité de personne présente.

Everyone was friendly and very helpful. The shuttle every 30 minutes to and from the city was a wonderful "bonus" for the hostel. Justine, the accommodation manager at Summer House, Cairns was very professional and extremely helpful! She is a "keeper." I would recommend this hostel especially to "shy" travelers for everyone is so friendly and helpful, I know they would enjoy the atmosphere.

The only thing for me was the kitchen was extremely crowded and several burners on the stove did not work. I am sure thy would be fixed by now.

Great pool and daily activities which are free. They run a shuttle into town every 30 minutes which is handy.

No recycling!!! The kitchen is too small for the amount of people and often not very clean. They do what's necessary to keep things going but there's no going above and beyond from staff or keeping up the facilities. Also quite noisy as near the airport.

It was cheap

Everything else. It is loud all the time, especially at night. I couldn’t sleep most of the night because either there were people coming into the room loudly and switching on the lights or everyone sleeping was snoring. I was in a girls only room and there were guys coming in most of the time and also sleeping there. The staff didn’t help me and also didn’t give me a refund, I still left a night earlier. Some of their staff does not or just very barely speak english. The air in the room wasn’t good even though I asked a staff member to turn up the AC.

It had a very friendly atmosphere and the staff was always very helpful. I liked that it was close to the airport and it was a good value for money. It was more for young people and lots of parties were happening but luckily everyone was quiet very early in my room. I felt like many people were living there long-term while on a working holiday visa.

There wasn't enough information about the rules and facilities. The bathroom was very small with not much amenities provided. The location was a bit far from some places but you can go easily to places by bus.
