Sheraton Rockville Hotel

I’ve stayed at this hotel a few times years ago when Sheraton before Marriott bought SPG. I don’t remember loving or hating it, so I booked a one night stay. As I’m writing this, I’m still at hotel. I was awakened around 4:30 by the guy in the next room coughing. The walls are so thin it’s like he’s in my room. I can hear him blow his nose, and even flatulating. By 6:30 I could hear my other neighbors tv. I had a long day yesterday and today will be just as long and wanted a full 9 hours of sleep. That’s not happening. The hotel still looks exactly the same as it did back in the day. My room has no drawers and no caddy for my suitcase. I called downstairs last night for something around 10pm and was told I have to come to desk to retrieve it. I’m on club level and the food last night was decent. There’s a sign that lists the wine and beer selections but when I asked for a glass of wine I was told it’s not free and I’ll have to go down to the bar or to front desk for a voucher. I’m sitting at the table eating and now I have to go down to the 1st floor to get wine? Leave my plate? It just seemed like too much of a hassle. Other hotel lounges have the wine in the lounge already. This morning the lounge is serving eggs mixed with ham. I don’t eat pork. It’s Holy Week and Passover, I’d think there would be food options without the meat. Plain eggs would be great or even boiled eggs in the fridge. I’m starting my day without protein and sleep. Even though all staff is friendly and it’s a decent distance from where I need to be I will not be staying here again.

The hotel is located in a nice area. The front desk did not provide good customer service. We were told we were given a king room and was assigned to a double room with peeling paint and a leaky pipe in the shower (room 403).

Smoking Fee when you DO NOT smoke! Terrible Customer Service!!! The Sheraton Rockville Maryland hotel charged us with a smoking fee for $575. We do not smoke. I have been staying at this hotel for over 2 years and I have never been charged for this fee. I have called the hotel every day since the charge and emailed the GM several times with no help nor response. I called Marriott customer service and reported the problem, still no help. To not contact me is truly unacceptable, I feel like they have stolen $575 from us. Marriott used to be all about customer service , I have never been so disappointed in Marriott.

The positives of this hotel are that it is located in a nice area, where it is quiet. You don’t hear much of any traffic at any time during the day. The bedding is also plush and very much to our liking. The bathroom was well stocked with liquid hand soap and other nice touches. The room is a bit on the dated side though, even if it was impeccably clean and decently maintained. The club lounge saw some updates with the seating since the last time we were there. But the food underwhelmed compared to previous visits. And they stopped carrying soft drinks there, which was unfortunate. Be sure to know that there is a parking fee of $15 per night, which we were well aware of when we booked. They put an excessive hold on the credit card for incidentals, which far more than I’ve seen at any hotel to date. On the positive side, the front desk staff was responsive and helpful. They assisted us when we had various needs, and that speaks well of this hotel. Overall, we found the Sheraton in Rockville to fulfill our needs well.
