Best Western Hotel La Solara

Cannot overpraise this hotel. Staff extremely friendly and attentive. Spotlessly clean everywhere. Food exceptional. we had a room on third floor and were lucky enough to have a sea view. Only down side was there was no where to go walking from the hotel but the complimentary shuttle bus into Sorrento somewhat made up for this, TUI staff were excellent and helpful. We have no hesitation on recommending this hotel and TUI package. Will definitely go again.

I was so excited to stay here, as it was recommended by a friend. When we arrived, no greeting, no smile. We were given a room way in the back against a wall. No view as was noted online. Dinner that night in the hotel was awful. I will say that breakfast was great!!! Also, watch out when you use the shuttle, as you have to walk down a steep hill to get on it. Even in the rain, with luggage, and do not expect any assistance from all the men at the front desk. They could care less. The internet went out while we were there, and they just blamed a third party company and said there was nothing they could do, and no idea when it would come back on. The most unhelpful group of old men I have ever seen. Very unimpressed with the hotel, the rooms and especially the customer service. Would not stay there again!

This hotel is the perfect place to spend a few days if you are in need of rest and relaxation. Situation on the outskirts of Sorrento, the hotel is perched on the hill with an amazing view of the ocean, and is away from the hustle and bustle of the town. In a traditional style, the hotel is comfortable, quiet and you will feel like you’re staying in a family home. This is because every member of staff will make you so welcome. From the wonderful staff on the Front Desk (Massimo, Tina, Antonio, Fabio and Maria) who will ensure your every need is met to the essential services of Mario (a life saver) who will take you to and from the town in the Shuttle bus every hour. The food is delicious and the evening dining experience is very civilised with excellent waiter service, perfectly coordinated by Marcello and Nino, all ably served by Ferdinando, Fatima, Alba, Sonia and Pepe. A big thank you to Ben and Giovanni in the bar for the “conversation and humour” and the perfect cocktails each evening. A delightful get away break for recharging tired batteries, La Solara is simply “perfetto”. Grazie Mille!

I have to say we booked this hotel based on the reviews - I appreciate that reviews are subjective but I was incredibly disappointed. So we went with TUI and arrived Monday afternoon - it was only a short trip. The room like most have said is basic and dated but incredibly clean - I liked the bed my husband didn't. The shower was over the bath and the bath was quite deep - luckily we are still quite agile at 60-65. The position of the shower made it a tight squeeze and I am only 5ft 2 ins - my husband used the bath - the water pressure was good and the water was hot. We went half board (normally do all inclusive so I was maybe naive) breakfast was reasonable but very continental and not much hot food on offer. Dinner was a massive disappointment - the meat was good quality but that was the only positive - food was luke warm at best with little to no seasoning. One night I had sea bass and it tasted like it was boiled in water, the following night I then had turkey in lemon sauce and carrots - that was it! I also had chicken coated in egg and pan fried served with mashed potatoes and some kind of mayonnaise. I just felt very let down - the salad bar was good but all the veg was served cold. You also had to pay for water at your table - at 2.50 Euros for 1L bottle. There was only entertainment on the Thursday night and that was an older man on his keyboard singing. I only went to the pool one day as the weather was only about 24 degrees and the pool was absolutely freezing. On the Thursday we arrived back to our room about 2.30pm and received a telephone call from reception asking if we needed the room cleaned? To be honest I was a little thrown by the question and asked if we could have the bed made - I am happy to make my own bed and felt a little cheeky asking! The reception then replied okay so you don't need anything! We just made our own bed, honestly I am not an entitled Princess but we had paid almost £1400 for 4 nights and my husband had found the housekeeper that morning to tip her (something we do on every holiday we go on). We also paid £70 for late checkout and were told that this would be 2pm - if we had known I am not sure we would have bothered. The shuttle into Sorrento was great and always on time. The view from our room was lovely but got no sun at all as we were right in the corner. Also there was no privacy at all if we sat on the balcony. We were in room 328 Would I visit this hotel again - no I wouldn't and I was very disappointed

The hotel is in a lovely location with views across the bay of Naples. Very clean and the service is exceptional. There is an hourly shuttle to the town centre which runs from 8.00 until 23.00. Food isn’t great. I had a seafood pasta which was overcooked. On Sunday there is a gala night with a restricted menu. Veal was served which was like a piece of shoe leather. Drinking water has to be purchased from the bar which was a big disappointment. Water should be free.

Arrived very late, there was a cold plate of cheeses an meats waiting for us, the staff were brilliant, the food plentiful and varied. Pool area was fantastic, always sun beds and towels available . Hourly shuttle bus into town was great. No problems with anything

Just returned from a lovely stay at the La Solara, on a half board basis. The hotel is spotlessly clean and all the staff are so helpful and friendly. As I'm someone who suffers from coeliac disease, gluten free food is a must have and this was not a problem at all. Big thanks to Marcello, Sonia and Ben who all went out of their way to explain the gluten free menu options. We had a very early morning departure and a GF packed breakfast was provided for me. The hotel's shuttle bus into town is also great and runs like clockwork.

Clean, peaceful, friendly. This place is just a little out of town, but if you’re looking for a slower pace and setting this is a great value!
