Sofitel Harbin

We were expected slightly more when we book this hotel, it's the brand that carries the value we thought. It turned out to be somewhat disappointing. Check-in was slow, 15 mins of wait and there was just 2 check-in counters, everybody else seems busy. It doesn't make sense to have a temperature control in the room, with a controller to blow cold air but they shut the aircon off (as what we'd told). We had very warm nights, everyday we had the window opened and suffocate us with dry air. Breakfast provide at the club longe was probably worst than a budget hotel. It was nowhere near the standard of similar Sofitel brand. Assortment of Chinese dishes, some western selection and we're done with simple breakfast. Totally budget. Room cleaning however wasn't thorough, I found pills and a pin on the carpeted floor. And it has still yet to be cleaned at checkout. That said, they were prompt when we rang to open our room's window. Having said that, the bell boy is attentive, pool attendant is inviting. It's a massive indoor pool. Guest attendants in the club lounge are courteous. No less of any amenities. Comparing with other Sofitel in other cities, it is questionable to have faulty hard products. With array of hotels selection at Harbin, it's better to go elsewhere.

The staff made our stay extra special. From all the ladies at the front desk, to the concierge staff (especially Giulio), they went the extra mile to ensure our visit to Harbin included a comfortable place to stay. The pillow menu, breakfast buffet and pool were out favorites. On the downside, the rooms are looking a bit worn, and the breakfast buffet could stay open at least til 10:30 (rather than 10). It would be nice to have a lane in the pool for non-lap swimmers as well.

Great place to stay! This is not near the "downtown" area, but still has a lot to offer within walking distance. Staff was extremely helpful!

Breakfast is delicious for the price.Better to buy including breakfast. Close to the department store with super market at basement.Not every concierge speak English so translation app is helpful for communication.Sonw&Ice Festival is -18–20 at evening be well prepared for deadly cold weather. Taxi drivers tend to overcharge so try not to be ripped off from the airport to hotel. Most local Chinese don’t use as their relatives and friends usually pick them up at the Harbin airport.Use your tran app to negotiate taxi fare. Hotel says 130 yuan but taxi charge extra for express high way fee. We ended up with RMB180 incl.10 for tip.

The room was extremely comfortable and clean. The humidifier in our room added an extra touch of thoughtfulness.

For a Sofitel Hotel, it was definitely not up to par, old, worn out, needs modernization

wonderful hotel, with excellent service, service provided was the best compared to other parts of china. china is not a country well known to provide good customer service, and this hotel chain had did an excellent choice to ensure their staffs deliver the best experience for their customers.

Great staff, though breakfast waiters etc very mechanical.

Third time I stayed in this hotel and also third time I booked for golf view but they claimed all golf View room sold out. Cheating! Charged me for best view but gave me worst view room. I fought for the golf room with no luck!!
