Sofitel Harbin

Had recently been to the Xian Sofitel so had expected something similar but sadly not. Overall suited what we need and first impression was great with Santa greeting us at the entrance. Rooms were nice although we'd booked 2 rooms as we were a family of 5 but one room stunk of smoke so we had to move. Thankfully they acted reasonably quickly. Breakfast was solid without being delightful pretty standard fare dominated by Chinese cuisine. Might go back if I was in Harbin next time.

I have found a bit strange that the VIP lounge closes at 8 pm at night. The offered drink at the lobby bar is only coffee or soft drink. After long negotiation, we managed to have two glasses of wine. When I asked for some ice (warm wine) the attendant told rat the bar was closing at 9 pm. It was 9.09 ... I think such a level of hotel, with many international customers coming for the ice festival, should consider to have a more user-friendly service ... By the way... we have a platinum membership ... PS. The arrival at the airport was also difficult. Taxi drivers did not want to take us to the hotel. We had to negotiate with people not really willing to talk to us ...

We went there during the Chinese New Year 2020. It is around 40-45 minutes from the ice and snow festival (without any traffic). The facility is nice (nice room and pool) but service was very bad and not clean. We had 2 dinners and 2 breakfasts there. There were a lot of choices... but clearly not fresh from the day. It might have been better to have fewer choices but more fresh. Several of them were served at least the 2 days we spent there. The worst part was during the breakfast. Not a single table was cleaned when we arrived (around 1 hour before the end of the service). 70% of the tables had no longer customers but tables were full of their plates and wastes... if you do not ask for water in the coffee machine, then the machines will not be checked for 20 minutes. You might wonder if they have issues of number of employees because of corona viruses/ Chineses New Year... there were several employees in the restaurant but not doing anything proactively.

I chose Sofitel where I had been in the past and never disappointed. The service was very attentive being a return guest, food was good at breakfast although could have a bit more choices for health conscious people. The pool and gym are a must for me which was great for an early morning plunge. There’s a shopping mall next door with lots of shopping opportunities.

Hotel was good. Club facilities were good. However location was a little far from places of interest but with local taxis it was easy to get around. Staff were pleasant and helpful. There was an indoor pool

Our stay at the Sofitel was excellent. What made it even better was not just the excellent facilities, amazing restaurants, and clean rooms, but the personal attention by specific staff by the name of Giulio Martinatto and Alan. Giulio gave us wonderful service at the restaurant during breakfast and cared to our every need while we were staying. Alan, the concierge, was educated in tourist information and informed us about details involving certain attractions. Overall, it was an excellent trip and I would definitely come back next year! Thank you again to Giulio and Alan for the great service.

Although not having the international feel of a 5-star hotel, it is still recommended for you to stay at this hotel. Hotel is beside Wanda Mall which have many restaurants on the 3/F. KFC opens for 24 hours. There is also McDonald’s. There’s also a big supermarket at the basement that also offers clothing and other items to prepare you for the weather. Hotel receptionists are nice even though they cant speak english well. They try their best effort to let you understand and give you a better stay by upgrading your room accommodations. Ms. Muse was very accommodating and was supportive of your request and situation. Our group had to extend another day’s stay after airline cancelled our flight due to heavy snow. Other hotels are near central street but you will need to brave the weather walking along the shopping street each day looking for what you need unlike a mall just right beside your hotel where you can go back anytime and make you feel warmed while inside the mall. Our tourist guide was the best one we have ever had after more than a decade of travelling to different countries.

We stayed here 23-25 and 27-28 Dec I choose here as its part of accor group and I have stayed few time in diff Sofitel hotel so I expected a good service as well in here. Porters in Harbin don't help you with luggage, they just stand there and do nothing. The check in desk don't really speak English that well. I travel with my parents and sister and family, but our rooms are quite way apart. Which is quite inconvenient for us My room is not really cleaned properly and there is blood in one of the pillow (no one is having nose bleed btw) so it's quite disappointing to have this experience I did send another request to make sure we are not so far apart in our room in the next stay but it also didn't happen. Bfast was alright, as we can't expect much in Harbin but it's better than the food outside I hope they can improve the service and be more kinder to foreigners

11th floor supposed to be a non smoking floor and our room 1116 was smell of smoke and we discovered that there were ashes that the chamber maid didn't clear away, it could have been done better. Breakfast offering was average. However they have a mall next door, offering better food and a park across the road, was lovely covered with snow now (20-26 Dec). We had fun at the park.
