What a romantic stay in a spectacular location! The service was way above expectation. We were simply dazzled! (But two things essential to our modern life were missing. With all the historic interpretation of the property, there ought to have been more historic research and credit given to the talented enslaved artisans who actually built the home. Also, an energy audit to seal air leaks would have been valuable during the restoration.) All said, the owner's preservation efforts were extraordinary, the property was made lavishly comfortable for guests, and the opportunity to "live" in an historic home that helped shape Charleston as we know it was an incredible treat.

My husband and I went in to town to attend a concert. We had a five star experince at 20 South Battery. We were warmly welcomed by the staff and given a tour of this remarkable mansion. Our room was exquisite. The afternoon chacuterie board was delicious as was breakfast in the morning. The property is well kept and quite a gem in a stunning location. We will definitely look forward to a return stay.

We had a great experience!! Abigail and Ryan were fabulous hosts and took care of our every need including a wonderful reception with charcuterie and refreshing drinks. We got a tour of the grounds and it’s fascinating history. The breakfast was fantastic, the beds very comfortable, rooms very clean and the location is perfect. Didn’t even need our rental car. Looking forward to staying again someday soon! Five stars aren’t enough, book it!

Pricey

We celebrated our wedding anniversary and this historic hotel was just right for a romantic getaway. We stayed in the carriage house in a very comfortable room. When the hotel staff realized it was our anniversary we got a little very fitting gift. The choices for breakfast were great. We truly enjoyed our stay at this historic mansion.

The location was excellent. Loved our room although TV in one of the rooms in our suite did not work helpful in multiple ways.

We booked for a longer period than we ended up staying; a family medical emergency required us to cancel three of the days at the last minute. Abby understood and graciously let us cancel without penalty. We loved our beautiful suite.

My wife had Charleston on her bucket list. We therefore scheduled a three night stay at 20 South Battery. We have visited Savannah many times so we also scheduled a two night stay there after Charleston. 20 South Battery far exceeded our expectations. The historic nature of the house was amazing and the hosts Abagail and Ryan were very friendly and helpful in our visit to Charleston. When we visit Charleston in the future, we will definitely book 20 South Battery again.
