I love these refurbished old 1900 hotels. Upgrading them even makes the value more important! Save these places world wide.

All inside the hotel is fine! street side, homeless, drugs & loud bars are a distraction at best! America love disorder!

The location within the Gaslamp district was ideal for seeing all the sights in San Diego. Easy access via public transport to the airport and all major sights.

Great value for a central location in the heart of Gaslamp District. It’s most of the attractions are walkable or reachable by trolleys/buses within short walks. I loved the hotel exterior and Italian decor interior and that it has a mini freezer/refrigerator for those who are there more than 24 hours. Hotel provides earplugs and despite the music jamming downstairs, I had no issues. It’s in central downtown so expect road noise and activities in early hours. Reception is open from 9:00-16:00. The staff is very friendly and a text away.

Unable to open the window shades so it feels a bit like being in a dungeon. With the music downstairs in the weekend, and the high ceiling, it helps a bit. If you’re holed up all day, then it can get to you. But who comes to San Diego and stays indoors.

The location is incredible and the rooms an amazing value. Would highly recommend, especially for the money.
