Lodge at Whitefish Lake

We had the most amazing stay at the lodge! Our room was great, the amenities were great and the dining was great. You really don’t have to leave the property after you check in because there’s so much to do there. If you do have to leave they’ve got ya covered! The shuttle service is also great.

We recently spent 4 nights at the Lodge. We are a family of four, one is a teenager and one is in elementary school. I specifically booked the Lodge because in the family friendly, great location being right on the lake, and was upscale. Here are my thoughts, experiences, and observations. POSITIVES: Location. Personally, we really liked the fact that the Lodge was located just outside Whitefish. It was a mile and half distance to the main center of Whitefish….. definitely walkable. Plus, situated right on the lake and near Whitefish Mountain make this location very desirable. The lodge itself. Very clean and well maintained. There was a wedding reception one night; however, it didn’t seem/feel loud. Ambiance. As we expected, the décor was a blend of modern and rustic. It also has an upscale vibe. We loved it. Smores. This was a nice touch. Upon request, the front desk gave out a free smores kit per child. Room size. The room size was very roomy. Lots of space. Loved the fireplace and kitchenette. Bed. Very comfortable. We all slept well. Staff. The staff was friendly and helpful. No negatives here. Concierge. Very helpful. Loved all their activity recommendations. Boat Club. I wrote a long separate review on this. The food was overpriced; however, it was consistently really good. Staff were great. Patio overlooking the lake watching the sunset was amazing. The salmon was cooked to perfection each time (we are picky about our salmon). Also really loved the huckleberry mud pie! Yes, the prices are higher than expected, but this is typical for “hotel restaurants”. Tiki Bar. Loved the vibe and the location; next to the dock adjacent to the pool. The furnishing/chairs were very comfortable. Can watch the sunset go over the lake! The view. Priceless. Shuttle. The free shuttle to and from the airport as well as to downtown Whitefish is a nice touch. It was very appreciated. Pool/hot tub. The hot tub was a good size. The pool initially seemed on the smaller size but ended up being fine. Patrons. There is a good mix of young families, and folks 50+ who were there without children. All seemed to vibe together well. NEUTRAL: Room décor. The room décor was rustic and had a slight outdated feel as opposed to the lodge which had a newer modern rustic. Not a big deal, just an observation. NEGATIVES: Indoor pool/hot tub. Both looked amazing with large waterfall included with the pool. On the day it rained, it would have been a ton of fun to swim there. But both were out of order. Gym. We stayed at the main lodge. The walk to the gym was past the indoor covered bridge/walkway and on the other side of the Viking wing. Would of preferred it being closer to where I was staying, but not the end of the world. Bed size. The four of us stayed in two queen beds. This is a pet peeve for us…. but the beds queen beds felt smaller than a traditional queen bed. In all fairness, we have this complaint about most hotels we stay in. Grab and Go breakfast station. This is the only alternative for breakfast aside from Boat Club. I wish it was bigger and had more options. The food they did have was good.

The location.

Every time we come here the sodais flat, so I have to bring store bought tonic water to dinner. They can never fix it . The food for lunch and dinner is just okay. Wish the food was better, so we didn't have to go into town for dinner all the time. Rooms have old world charm but need updating. Mattress very old and pillows uncomfortable. Had to use Whitefish Marina, as they never answered the phone for weeks for requesting a boat rental

What we thought was going to be a pretty lakeside hotel turned out to be a room across a bridgeway next to a noisy road overlooking a parking lot. Way overpriced for what it was. They actually had the audacity to charge you $55/ hour to use a beat up old kayak while charging $600 for a lousy room. Overcrowded pool and hot tub and no good access to use the lake. Actually had to go to the city beach. Dining facilities way overpriced and average quality. The pool and hot tub in the " roadside " facility wasn't working despite it being a high occupancy weekend. There was terrible ventilation in the below average exercise facility. Overall incredibly disappointing and couldn't wait to leave. Definitely wouldn't recommend.
