Lodge at Whitefish Lake

My husband and I have been repeat guests of this lodge for over 20 years. The location is superb. Summer is actually our favorite time when the lake is active with boating and seaplanes. This time, because we live in Wyoming for part of the year, we opted for a three day Fall trip to enjoy Oktoberfest in charming, downtown, Whitefish. The complementary airport shuttle was appreciated as we fly ourselves into Glacier GPI. Brady, our driver, from the lodge, showed up on schedule. What a great addition to the lodge! Big smile, great attitude, he is the absolute best kind of employee to welcome us to Whitefish. He asked if we wanted to take the scenic tour back to the Lodge or go through downtown. We opted for the scenic tour as we had planned to go downtown after check-in. Brady was an absolute joy. I can see him, one day, becoming general manager! I told him as much! Actually, all of the employees we encountered were top-notch. I do not remember the young lady of Jamaican descent at the front desk, but she was very good as well. As we had come in early, they did not have a room right away, but they took our bags and stored them and made arrangements for us to go downtown while we waited for our room to be ready. Brady took us downtown and recommended a place for a late breakfast. The front desk texted us when our room was ready about 2 PM. The shuttles run every hour to go downtown and pick up to go back to the Lodge, 10 minutes after every hour. Pick up is very convenient at the lodge’s sister hotel, the FireBrand, downtown. Every afternoon the lodge hosts a free cocktail in the lobby starting around 5 PM. As guests, we usually walk around the grounds before dinner at the boathouse. The boathouse, breakfasts, dinners and bar menu were all excellent. Staff equally so! I looked back at my last review, and I have to close with the some of the same comments for improvements. We stayed in the Viking Lodge, which is connected to the lodge by a bridge over the main roadway. What’s nice about this section of the hotel is the indoor pool, hot tub, and gym. It’s an easy walk to the main lodge. That said, the walkway and main hallways of the Viking lodge need a refresh. New paint and carpeting are pretty much essential and what I recommended the last time. Decor is dated and looks worn out. In our room, we appreciated the Instant hot water and good water pressure in the shower and bathtub. I would highly recommend changing out the lighting in the bathroom to the newer make up mirror type lighting. It’s very dark in the bathrooms. Also, consider changing out mattresses and comforters, as needed. An easy refresh. The gym was extremely crowded, very early. Since there are only about three treadmill’s, I would recommend a sign that asks guests to limit their time to no more than 20 minutes. In addition, the inside hot tub and pool area was constantly inundated with children, running all over the place and jumping into the pool and hot tub. I would recommend an adult only time, or designate the outdoor hot tub as adult only. We still highly recommend this lodge. With a few improvements, this lodge will go from great to greater!

This is the best place to stay if you like to have a variety of things to do without needing to leave the resort. The friendly staff, the top notch service, and the accomodations are fantastic! We come every year and it is a highlight for us as a couple.

I arrived in Whitefish not knowing that the huge influx of people and money over the years have ruined the area. There were no hotel rooms available. I swallowed hard and opted for a $500 per night room at the lodge. It is magnificent in every way. The location is perfect. Being a mile from an overly congested downtown where one has to circle multiple times to find a parking space is so nice. Everyone please re read my last sentence to understand how what should be a more tranquil MT town has been ruined. That being said I was so happy my friend who lives in Whitefish enticed me to visit. I put the Lodge on the same level as any other great hotels I have stayed at on Maui or New England. The staff. the amenities, all exceptional. 20 years since I last visited has seen absolutely tragic development but the Lodge has carved out a special spot in the area. One never has to leave like I did. I only went downtown to have breakfast where my friend worked, then couldn't get back to the lodge fast enough. Next time want to burn over a $1000 for a weekend, I won't even think twice about staying here

Very enjoyable experience. Staff were friendly, attentive and willing to do whatever it took to help guests of the Lodge. The 2 bedroom condo was very comfortable, cozy and inviting. Highly recommend a stay at Whitefish Lodge.

I loved staying here for my friends wedding! We are outdoorsy people but we did have quite a few critters in our room on arrival. Our bathroom had several spiders in it. No big deal to us we just put them outside, but just an FYI. I know we are in a woodsy area so I understand. Otherwise the property was overall clean and so welcoming. The staff was SUPERB and I loved the hot tub. The wedding there was amazing as well. So beautiful and all of the catering staff was top notch. They need a raise! Thanks so much for the best time

Everything was top notch. Try it, you will not be disappointed!! Everyone was helpful and friendly. The amenities were unbelievable. There is so much to do or if you just want to relax it is the place. Scenery is indescribable

We were disappointed that the marina closed the day before our Reservation began. The room was fantastic with deer walking right by our window. Best pillows ever! Breakfast omelet was delish in the boat club restaurant! Waitress was so friendly… Montana coffee was outstanding.
