The Chancellor Hotel

I stayed at the Chancellor Hotel for two weeks in April, 2018. I had one room with breakfast included. The room was acceptable but on more than one occasion the room was not cleaned on a daily basis because the cleaning person didn't show up or forgot, etc. After a few breakfasts I came to the realization that the breakfast was totally unacceptable. I ended up going to another hotel for breakfast. The dining room was not clean (e.g. tablecloths were not changed, etc.) I would NOT recommend this hotel. The Wifi and Internet worked sporadically and was undependable. One of the employees there (Laurie) went out of her way to ameliorate my situation and I thank her for that.

The hotel is in a nice area, has a nice ambiance and pool. However, don't include any meals with your booking or purchase drinks at the hotel bar, the food and service is terrible. The hotel rates should be lower, they are within the range of better hotels but cannot deliver the standard of service. My experience with the service and quality of food provided by the chef and bartender was unacceptable.

We had an event hosted here and it was amazing. Firstly I love the hotels grounds and the rooms, really beautiful. There is also a nice little pool which we just looked at because we were a bit tied up with other stuff, so there was no swimming. The event was really successful and the surroundings of the hotel lend that type of atmosphere. The staff members were very kind and helpful at all times. I really enjoyed the time there and I would encourage anyone to visit....

Staff are very friendly and always more than willing to help in any way they can. Am particularly grateful for 24hr reception. Rooms are spacious, comfortable and well equipped. Location is a little way out from eating outlets, but only a very short drive by taxi/uber. No concerns over safety and security here. A good place to stay.

This is a good place and reasonably priced boutique hotel. Breakfast is included,but it is not the best. The breakfast was made to order but the hotel is going through changes to upgrade the kitchen services. In the interim, we received dirty glasses, and a worm was found on one of the plates. Hopefully changes will be made shortly to address these issues. The rooms are spacious and the suite can accommodate up to 6 people. Good place to stay during Carnival season.

The pool was great,The breakfast was excellent. The paintings in the rooms were nice,The staff was very friendly and helpful.They always checked to make sure everything was ok

The room was ok but the pool was too close to the dining area whhich made it uncomfortable to take a dip... However the entire stay was ok...

The staff does not know the area - they couldn't give us directions to restaurants within walking distance. The room may have been nice for the area, but really no better than a motel 6. The bathroom was in desperate need of maintenance. The pool was a nice area to relax by, but devoid of other guests and the bar wasn't staffed. The hotel indicated breakfast was included, but there was none served at all.

Depending on the time of day the drive from/to the airport can take between 30 and 90 minutes. Hotel is in a semi-residential area with no particular views and the gates are locked / guarded at night by security. The rooms are basic with minimal furniture, no carpets, no tea making, and the wifi only tends to work around the pool (not in room). Large but unappealing bathroom is hard to cool, breakfast is reasonable and front desk try to be helpful & efficient in terms of transport bookings, local info etc. Entrance to Botanical gardens is a minutes walk away and the zoo is on the far side of the gardens. There's a shop a minute's walk in the opposite direction, but it's advisable to only walk during daylight. Seems expensive considering the Spartan rooms, but they do try to make up for it with good customer service.
