The Chancellor Hotel

Simple and secure hotel located outside Port of Spain. The hotel is old and the bathroom have seen its better days. I stayed here during the carnival celebration so the price for one night was very high compared to what you get. There are WiFi, however almost only work in public area.

Loved the location, close to the zoo and the town of port of spain. Rooms were spacious and homey. Didnt like the house keeping service . Overall i would give it a 8 out of 10 rating. Will definately be going back there on my next trip to Trinidad

The receptionist was unsure of my payments.The security was asleep and i had to wait a while before entering property.

The property is excellent location not far from Savannah. Quiet peaceful and excellent security on the property very private. Courtesy staffing .

My wife and I went to Trinidad to participate in the 2019 carnival. It was our first time in Trinidad so we were both looking forward to enjoy ourselves and walking away with a great carnival experience. We were not disappointed and part of that memorable experience were due to the Chancellor Hotel staff services and attention to details. The staff went above and beyond to make sure our stay for the eleven days we were there went stress free. When the safe in our room broke, the staff immediately had someone over to troubleshoot the issue. When it was determined that the safe was unrepairable it was quickly replaced with another safe. We were also impressed at how clean the staff kept our room and how responsive and insightful they were to questions dealing with sightseeing trips around the island. Overall, we would definitely stay at the Chancellor Hotel again and recommend it to others. Thanks Chancellor Staff…keep up the excellent service!

First time in Trinidad for work. The hotel owner consistently when above and beyond to arrange rides, showed us around or recommended where to go, arranged drivers, and generally attend to anything we needed. Possibly the greatest level of service I've ever had at a hotel. The rooms were solid if not spectacular and clean. The property is secured at night. For meals we were often asked what we wanted rather than given a menu which is both great but also a little unexpected for someone used to traveling hotels in the US. Wifi was spotty on our side of the hotel, good over near the pool. Overall the level of service made it a great first trip to Trinidad!

Visited with some friends as girls getaway. We were able to book and check in with no issues at all. The stay itself was great. We took a two bedroom suite for 4 people but there were only cups and glasses for 2 people. It was not an issue this time. The rooms were big and we loved the separate seating area. The beds were comfortable but in the morning I noticed how stained one of the pillows were. They really need to be replaced at this point. The shower itself needs to pressure wash or given a good scrub. The shower door didnt want to slide. At breakfast the sugar bowl was almost empty. This was bad considering we were one of two sets of guest there that night. There were no tongs to serve ourselves and we had to ask Luke to refill the kettle and to bring out more bread. All in all the pros outweighed the cons and we will stay there again. Great location. Cars are secured at night. Not sure if the smoke alarms in the rooms were working.

My family and myself booked a multiple room 6 guests. Rooms were clean and culturally decorated which was intriguing. Staff was very helpful and attened to our needs even making exceptions with breakfast whenever we woke late. The grounds and pool were also clean and hanging out by the pool was relaxing due to the quiet surroundings. The bar was not active the period we stayed and had to get drinks by reception to the front of the compound which was a little inconvenient. There is access to a huge grocery walking distance. Our room had a small fridge but no stove or microwave. The highlight was how responsive the staff was in an emergency. During one of the days spent there was a somewhat scary earthquake there was no damage done but during the shaking the staff came to our door to help us evacuate to the safest area on the compound. Keep it up Chancellor... Great job on keeping your guess safe.

Stayed 3 nights with a group to attend a conference at the Hyatt. A group discount was negotiated by the conference comity and with breakfast we would pay about half the price at Hyatt. The hotel was dated, including their system for CC authorization. The rooms were very basic, AC functioned, so did the shower and had no issues with the bed. TV didn’t had much channel options. The save model was from an early generation and combination of key and codes is needed. Breakfast buffet was eggs, another 1-2 hot item, one type of bread, cereal, fruit and coffee, tea and juice. It wasn’t a wow but for usd 10 ok, especially compared to what breakfast costs at other Hotels. Swimming pool was small, but clean and enough for my needs. The complimentary WiFi was only around the pool area during weekend. After it was fixed it was available in the room, but not to the level at the pool. For diner we walked to the nearby Normandy hotel. Alternative option is the Pizza boys. A supermarket is at walkable distance. The general advise is not to walk alone at night in that area. Had a rental car and within 25 minutes I was at the conference location. In summary the hotel is not a wow, it is sufficient and even with a car rental and breakfast the stay costed about 40% less than at the conference hotel.

Very good hospitality Special care when I said I am a vegetarian. Very good for vacationers at a cheap price and quality. However for business people, more outlets are needed to hook up laptop etc. All the outlets are used for regular room amenities. I will recommend this place for others.
