Ixchel Beach Hotel

Location, Kalak Restaurant, Staff. Our server, Huno, at restaurant was fantastic.

The door between the adjoining room was paper thin. Our neighbors were not particularly loud but we could hear everything they said, every cough, and every time they tool a piss.

Simply the BEST hotel on Isla Mujeres, and the entire Mexican Caribbean. The property, the staff, the care....it is always above and beyond! It is truly sometimes hard to believe how happy everyone working there is, and how they create such a beautiful energy for all those around. Daniel and Adriana run an incredible operation and customer service team. Sandra is so incredibly welcoming and attentive, and works so hard all day long. Karen has a care and charisma with her guests and you would never guess she is working under a year. Karen brings so much passion and love to her job!!! From reservations, Milton and Aaron both deliver the utmost effort to make all the accomodations possible. It is thanks to their efforts that I booked Ixchel and now I plan to book every 3 months my long stays. Juan and Gillermo always have a smile and can't wait to make your day better. I've been coming to Riviera Maya, Cancun, Playa, Tulum all my life since I was a little boy, now into my 40s. Ixchel is run like no other hotel I've seen. Everyone is so caring, they try to make everyone happy, and the maintenance is unbelievable. Obviously the property isn't brand new construction, but everyone is so attentive to painting, repairing, and looking for the tiniest details to this incredible property looking new. The professionalism, and effort is unmatched by even the top hotels around the world. Thank you again! Rarely these days do things exceed expectations, especially in service and hospitality. You run an unbelievable resort!

Too many decorative pillows - these will likely not be laundered in between guests - but this is a very minor thing.

Our favorite stay on Isla. Near Playa Norte with excellent service. Allen & Chepo are the best- the best servers with friendly spirit and great smiles. We can’t wait to come back!

The staff at the hotel, especially at reception and the beach, are very friendly and do their best to make guests feel welcome. However, the owner should consider renovating the building and adding better sound insulation to improve overall comfort.

Our stay at this hotel was a complete disappointment. First of all, the sound insulation is terrible. You can literally hear everything: neighbors flushing their toilet, people talking in the hallway, and even noises coming from the room next door because there’s an interconnecting door which offers zero privacy. At night, it got even worse. Drunk people were screaming all over the place, and even children from across the street were shouting until 01:00 AM – perfectly audible from our room. There was also a constant noise coming from some kind of machine, which made it impossible to relax. The room itself was far from acceptable. Although the bed was freshly made, it was full of sand, clearly showing that the cleaning was not done properly. On top of that, the toilet wouldn’t flush, which is just unacceptable. What makes it even worse is the price. This hotel is absolutely not worth $230 per night – not even close. Way too expensive for what you get. To make things worse, we decided to eat at the restaurant downstairs and paid $50 for two frozen pizzas. The quality was terrible, truly disappointing. In summary: If you’re looking for comfort, cleanliness, peace and value for money – do NOT stay at this hotel. This was by far one of the worst experiences and definitely not worth the price.
