Earl's Regency

The food really lets this place down. No a la crate just very average buffets in not very pleasant surroundings.

Mosquitoes everywhere. Bathtub wasn’t clean. Food was bad

The setting for the Earl's Regency is splendid surrounded by trees in well maintained grounds. The overall feeling is one of grandeur of a colonial past although the hotel is not of that period. The lobby area is huge and it was good to be welcomed with spiced tea after travelling for some hours from Colombo. Whilst the hotel probably falls a little short of five star status it is splendid and the room we had is probably the largest room we have ever had in a hotel anywhere in the world. The buffet breakfasts and dinner are good with plenty of choice that was probably only spoiled by the number of groups there when we visited. I would readily recommend a stay at the Earl's Regency and would stay there agin if I ever visit Kandy again in the future.

Fasntastic place! Away from the hustle & bustle of downtown Kandy but not too far away. Room and bathroom were large and very very clean. Pool area was great. View over the hills was beautiful. Buffet dinner was spectacular and would have to be one of the best I've ever had anywhere with fantastic selection and quality. Could not recommend Earl's Regency highly enough and would most defintely stay there again if I was in Kandy!

We totally enjoyed our stay at Earl Regency. The stay was as comfortable as one could possibly imagine. Breakfast was excellent and the staff was polite, pleasant and friendly and tried to be of help.

We reached the hotel at about 10 pm after a long drive and were greeted by unfriendly staff and a run down hotel. Our junior suites were infested with cobwebs, cockroaches and lizards, making our stay a nightmare! Upon showing our dismay we reached out to management, who insisted upon justifying the critters infected rooms and caught Cockroaches from the room! We wanted to leave the hotel in the morning and the duty manager at night confirmed that we can leave with a refund for the remainder of the stay in the morning, but upon our utter dismay, the manager of the hotel refused to honor their word the following morning. Being curt, unapologetic and rude, the manager stated “that you can scream or do whatever you want, but we won’t give you a refund” Expedia tried to compensate , but also could do nothing to reach out to the hotel! Utterly disgusted by the substandard unprofessional hotel and would never recommend to anyone.

A Stunning location with tropical forest views over the river and valley, Plenty of monkeys in the mornings, no mosquitos ! Lovely pool and tennis court, Very Colonial atomsphere. Amazing food & Buffet ( Dinner cost €15 !) in a 5* enviornment. Need a tuk tuk to get to Kandy (3-400 rupees, $2) Megafast checkin and great staff, They have got it just right.
