Earl's Regency

very old hotel which is run down and not worth the money. food was extremely average i would not recommend to a friend

Earl’s Regency seemed as a tranquil stop in Kandy. Regretfully we arrived on a day of weddings as the hotel held at least three wedding receptions. Our room felt as being directly under a dancing floor, the ceiling was shaking from the thumping of the wedding party. Reception staff, Sampath, was understanding of the situation. Without any further fuss our room was changed and upgraded. Sampath’s customer service was swift and focused on resolving the issue. One observation though, the hotel was aware of the wedding receptions that night so why to use the rooms affected by the noise in the first place? The evening fruit and little sweets delivered to the room were a very nice touch. Clean and comfortable room and well stocked bathroom made our stay enjoyable and memorable. Thank you.

Bad experience because I ordered a brakefast for two in room and they bring only for one person .. plus, i ordered ice cubes they brought it after an hour and half . Moreover, the electricity gets on and off it self . The hotel had build in 1990. The only thing is good about it is the views .

Beautiful location. Beautiful clean hotel with amazing food

Standard room is totally different than that of the one advertising in the internet. The room was very old and outdated. The smell in the room was not cleaned and all built-in furtinuture looked terrible. Frankly speaking, I am very detail-oriented and always choose the most comfort room to ensure that I will sleep well at night. This incident can prove that this hotel is cheating customers shiwinvthe renovated room in the room type that I select but the real one is different.

Pros: Excellent quality of food with good variety, well trained staff and nice pool in Kandy. Rooms are very clean, quiet and good size. Location is handy, about 5-10min tuk tuk ride to the main attraction: the temple of the tooth. Good views. Cons: Spa is not the best and would not recommend as it feels fairly transactional/ is not of the same standard as rest of hotel in terms of warm welcome, cleanliness and attention to detail.

We sent 2 nights here as part of our honeymoon. Booked almost 6 months ago and noted we were on our honeymoon as we did for all other hotels on trip. When we arrived we were shown to our room which was at the very back corner of the whole hotel with no view and close to 10 minutes from reception. Room was nothing like pictures advertised and felt like we got the worst room in the entire hotel. Could hear alarms in the staff room next to ours in the morning as if they were in the room with us. Walls paper thin. Room key didn' work and room was about 7 minute walk from reception to get a new one. Fogging for bugs outside our window made its way into our room through vent meaning we had to leave room. TV didn't work either. Afternoon tea is advertised as 4.30 to 6.30. Sat down and ordered at 6.15 on last evening and then 10 minutes later were told the chef had decided to finish up early today and we couldn't have tea. Apart from this the food was very good as was the service at meals. Outside of the food - service in hotel very poor and certainly wouldn't recommend this hotel especially if going on a romantic trip. Only disappointment from our 2 weeks of staying in Sri Lanka in terms of quality of accomodation and service. Think they knew we didn't have the best of stays as when checking out we weren't even asked did we enjoy our stay. Ladies at the reception desk were pretty unfriendly at both check in and check out. So overall... Obviously we won't be back to Earls Regency.
