La Selva Hotel

Niente di eccezzionale ma rapporto qualita' prezzo e' buono. Ottima colazione. Struttura scadente.

Es war für eine Nacht o.k.. Das dazugehörige Restaurant war sehr gut, jedoch die Portionen sehr klein. Pizzen sehr lecker.

albergo molto bene situato in montagna, super panorama al sorgere del sole! e non lontano da Firenze. Molto buon'accoglienza, camera comoda, forse la doccia un poco piccola. Buona cucina al ristorante e per la colazione. Servizio impeccabile, albergo familiare a raccomandare.

This place is in the middle of nowhere! It's up on hill... and very inconvenient. I'm not sure how many receptionists there are but I met 3 (two men and a woman). The woman receptionist is very helpful in comparison to the two men. The hotel is about an hour and a half bus ride to central Florence. The bus stop is hidden and not safe whatsoever... AND you have to walk down this steep hill to get to the "main street" where the bus is located. In addition, the bus does not come around often. The room is not as nice as it is advertised. There's a lot of bugs, so expect to get some bug bites. The hotel restaurant has the worst customer service. Sometimes the restaurant opens at 7 PM.... sometimes 7:30 PM.... SOMETIMES 8 PM. I got to give the place props for TRYING to add miscellaneous charges, so I would advise you to keep your eyes out when looking at the prices on the menu AND receipt. Would I stay here again? I doubt it. The hotel has this retreat like feeling. If there was a spa of some sort here, I think the stay wouldn't have been too bad.

In 2012 we stayed in Hotel La Selva just 1 night. This year we have decided for a 4 night stay. Visiting Florence and for one day to discover the beautiful little towns in the Mugello area. Again we had a nice room with a large balcony. The room was very clean as well was the bathroom. We had dinner every evening in the restaurant. Both staff off the hotel and the restaurant were very friendly. The breakfast and the food in the restaurant have a good quality. The only minor was the absence off a little refrigerator in the room. But we could leave our wine at the reception to cool. We had a very pleasant stay in La Selva.

We, a group of 10 people (4 families), stayed at La Selva Hotel for four days three nights. We flied into the Florence Peretola Airport and rented a car with a GPS. Despite of having a GPS, we got lost on the way to La Selva. The address listed on the confirmation letter and from the La Selva Hotel's web site has a lengthy address that the GPS does not recognize. We had to ask a rental car agent to enter the address for us. However, the GPS still showed us a wrong destination that was about 5 kilometer away. Our rooms were clean but only one room has air conditioner (it was strange the all rooms were charged the same rate). Room services were good and the staff is very helpful and friendly. The restaurant is very slow but has good menu of good pizza, pasta and deserts. There are two nearby restaurant if you do not want to dine at the hotel's restaurant. They are within walking distance (0.2 - 0.3 kilometers). Breakfast is included in the price. But we found out that, coffee (cappuccino or expresso) may be limited to one cup per customer. This limitation may be due to lack of staff who has to make Italian coffee for customers. When we asked for a second cup, the server did not seem to be happy to make another one for us. We are from the U.S. and get used to unlimited Americana coffee and continental breakfast. We wish that the hotel could serve American coffee pot that customer can self-serve. On the other hand, breakfast items are mostly organic with abundant local fresh fruit. Other than those small negative things, we understood that the hotel is run by a local small business who does not have resources like big hotel chain. Besides, the price is affordable and the surrounding views or scenes are outstandingly beautiful. We might have paid twice or three times more if we stayed at a decent three or four star hotel in Florence downtown. K. Nguyen

Rooms are very small

It was very clean and very comfortable, and the breakfast was amazing. The only problem was that it was incredibly hard to find for us, since the GPS didn't give us the right direction. We got to where it was supposed to be and blanked out. You have to travel for a while on a dark road, and turn right after seeing a restaurant. I hope nobody else gets lost for an hour in the dark like we did!

Very nice and tranquil area. Easy to place to relax after a day of sightseeing.

I can't actually rate the hotel as i didn't stay in the place i've booked. This hotel is located in a region surrounded by mountains, i planned to stay at this location because of this. As soon as i arrived at the place the guy from the front desk told me there was no reservation under my name. I pre paid the reservation on hotels.com website as usual and i have no idea what happened, according to the guy on the front desk the problem was with the satelite, acording to him e-mails don't work. After i have called to hotels.com they called the hotel and i was sent to their other unit in a town nearby. I was told the place was 2 km away but found out on my gps was around 15 km. The other hotel was a 4 star hotel acording to them (far from 4 stars for me), it was so cold and the heater didn't work, i was so tired for all the driving i did that i didn't have condition to request the room change. I still don't know if the booking problem was for hotels.com or the Laselva hotel but nobody seemed to care much, they just throw me and my wife at another place and that was it. Didn't appreciate the experience, being a hotels.com user for a few years, i would expect a little more attention.
