Djibouti Palace Kempinski

The best hotel I’ve stayed at in Africa so far – especially because of the staff! Every single person is always so friendly and welcoming. I’ve been there three times already, and each visit felt just as warm and genuine as the first one. It always makes me happy to see my “family” there: my sister Najma, Deku, Harbi, Giuelleh, and Filsan. They never fail to make me feel at home. Their kindness and great service really stood out during my 4 days and 3 nights stay – from every lunch to every dinner, everything was handled with care. Thank you all for making my experience unforgettable. I can’t wait to see you again soon!

Excellent trilingual staff, great breakfast buffet, stunning location on the turquoise sea. Pizza also excellent. Interior design a bit dark and dated.

I had high expectations when visiting the bar at the Kempinski in Djibouti, but unfortunately my experience was disappointing. The atmosphere was uncomfortably cold, which made it difficult to relax and enjoy the setting. On top of that, the music was far too loud, more suitable for a nightclub than the bar of a five-star hotel. Overall, the environment lacked the warmth and comfort one would expect from such an establishment. A real pity, considering the reputation of the hotel.

After a year of staying at Kempinski, I have nothing but praise! The staff, in particular, truly impressed me. The reception team (Ladane ⭐️), the restaurant staff (Alphonce ⭐️), the spa and pool teams, and the housekeeping staff (who remembered all my preferences) were outstanding. Congratulations!

While the staff is really friendly (front desk staff is nice, lovely lady at breakfast’s egg station who remembers all guests), it seems that middle & top management simply do not care. The hotel screams for renovation. Seems it got frozen more than 25 years ago. Old-school rooms, lacking sufficient plug-ins to charge devices. Coffee spoons at breakfast seem to be the rarest items. Sauna is in a disgustingly shabby and unhygienic state. Etc etc Apparently the hotel relies on steady income from military guests (seemed to make up 75% of the guests at breakfast..) and hence is not motivated to bring this place to current standards. Am surprised that Kempinski still let them use their brand given the overall status…

Staff at the hotel is very cooperative and helpful. Their customer service is of high degree. The restaurant and house keeping provide excellent services.
