"Comfortable, eclectic Inn on a horse farm"

10.0

This is not a shiny, new, glitzy place. This is a home with a lot of history. It’s comfortably clean, and kitschy. We found the owners to be the perfect blend of there when we needed them and very respectful of our privacy. They upgraded us to a larger room when they learned that it was our anniversary. That was sweet. There are several buildings on the property, so I can understand being a little unsure of which place to check in. It’s the big house at the end of the long driveway. We are spent a comfortable night on a decent bed with smooth linens. The television was glitchy, but we were not there to watch TV. There was a big whirlpool bath in the attached bathroom, and that was fun to soak in. We were invited to walk the grounds and feed carrots to the resident horses and chickens, and that was enjoyed by all! Breakfast was the farm fresh omelette with mushrooms and cheese, English muffin with Joan’s homemade jam, and fresh fruit salad. Overall a very enjoyable visit, and we would recommend thIs quiet Inn.

"Terrible!!"

2.0

Refer back to the reviewer who mentioned a likeness to the “Bates Motel” and you will have it about right. Comfy? Cozy? Uh...creepy is more like it. We booked a night’s stay in October and upon arrival, there was no designated parking and no obvious sign that indicated where we should enter. In addition, the place was totally deserted. No sign of life anywhere. After wandering around the (unkempt) grounds, looking for a place to get in, we finally found an envelope taped to one of the doors that had our name written on it and a key inside, along with a note that said we had been “upgraded” to a cottage in the back of the property. We located the cottage, unlocked the front door, and upon entry were nearly knocked over by the smell of mildew. The entire place was dirty, the linens were old and dusty, the sliding back door was broken, which made the place unsafe as well as uninhabitable, and there was a general air of neglect about the place that was, to put it mildly, totally unacceptable. We did not stay there, but found a local hotel to accommodate us that night. This was a very disappointing way to end our ten-day dream trip to New England. All of our other accommodations were excellent.

"Comfy and Cozy "

10.0

We stayed for one night. I accidently book this hotel on my way to Boston. At the first look at late night it was looking little bit scary as you enter through old fashioned drive way. But we had left a message for Joan about our late check inn so, she had our key and envelop ready on the door. Lights were on to guide us to our room. Feeled very welcomed throughout our stay. Positives- Jacuzzi tub with large bathroom, comfortable large bedroom, old fashioned so i would consider it as a charm, delicious pan cake Can improve- I would definately reccomend to buy new bathrobes(the one we got was so heavy and used). Nice to have some more options in hot breakfast (specially for vegeterian)

"A Hidden Gem! "

10.0

What a delightful experience we had at the Arabian Horse Farm Inn!! We contacted Joan ahead of time to let her know we wouldn't be in til after midnight. We had no problem finding the inn, parked in front of the house and went up to the front door... she had left the light on for us. We found an envelope with our name on it with our keys and directions to the room... I had read that all of their rooms are named after one of their beloved horses.  The room was clean and welcoming with all the charm and quirkiness you'd expect in a farm house from 1880!  The next morning we were served a yummy breakfast in one of the rooms that had an old ice box, antique stove and other antiques and collectibles. We were served a perfect omelet with eggs and herbs from their farm and even homemade jam! Joan even showed me how to cook the perfect omelet after I asked her if I could watch and I bought some of her jam.  One morning...before we ventured out to explore Boston, Salem and the surrounding areas... we took the time to feed the horses some apples and meet Rio their sweet handsome German Shepherd pup. The grounds are beautiful to explore. Joan was kind enough one night to invite us to a dinner party they were having with friends. But we were too busy exploring to accept the invitation.  At one point my husband had mentioned to Joan and Rick it was our anniversary... to our surprise our last night there... there was another note on the front door with a key to their "honeymoon suite". Such a thoughtful gesture!!  Thank you Rick and Joan for making my first visit to the Boston area a memorable one and for being such gracious hosts!

"A lovely country retreat"

10.0

Good Points: Lovely, quiet and quaint B&B. Welcome was warm and friendly. Room exceeded expectations - large, comfortable, clean and with a lovely spa bath and balcony. Breakfast was well-cooked, tasty and plentiful, with the added bonus of being able to eat on the veranda overlooking the garden and paddock. Even provided with a basket of carrots to feed to the horses when we walked round the grounds afterwards. Really enjoyed our stay. Bad Points: Apart from mistaking some grass up the centre of the drive for a scary, shadowy figure in the dark when we walked back from the local restaurant - nothing :-)
