The Ickworth Hotel

Amazing building and grounds. Shame that the National Trust closes part of the building from the 1 November. The inside of the hotel is a little tired

We stayed in Scarlet Room in the Lodge.On the Friday of our stay my husband used the kettle which blew all the electrical sockets.A maintenance man managed to find the fuse box and turn the power back on. The same thing happened yesterday but there was no maintenance man available until 9 am.We had to boil the kettle out in the hall to make a drink. Because we had no power to the sockets the boiler would not work and we had no hot water and heating.We were offered another room but decided to travel 200 miles home to a warm house and hot water!!! The staff were very helpful at the Lodge but could not find the appropriate fuse box. On the subject of the dining room it stated on the menu for breakfast that the muesli and granola were home made .I tried them on both days of our stay but the cereals were obviously from a box! It was stated on the breakfast menu that hash browns were available with the cooked breakfast but they never appeared on our plates.When we had our breakfast yesterday we were told that there was a problem with the supply of the hash browns. As you can see from the above bad experiences at your hotel were very disappointed with our stay.We expected much more as you market the hotel as luxury.This was definitely not the case. The reason we travelled 200 miles to the hotel was because my sister was getting married on the 9 th but this was cancelled due to Covid-19.We decided to stay anyway as we had already made the booking in March.

The location is beautiful and facilities at the hotel are very good, especially the swimming pool, which is wonderful. Breakfast is excellent and restaurant is very good overall. We stayed in the lodge which offers big rooms. The condition is ok but could be upgraded/modernised so that it meets expectations of a luxury hotel. Excellent products provided in bathrooms. Staff are helpful and polite and try to help. Unfortunately there were a few admin errors (booking us into breakfast at the wrong time and confusion on when we had booked the pool). Breakfast issue was resolved easily. Overall a pleasant stay.

The grounds that the hotel is set on are beautiful, with lovely walking trails and cycling tracks. We also liked the pool a lot. The staff, while always friendly and courteous, struggled to get the basics right - like bringing out the whole order without forgetting one dish. This happened almost every meal. The main working in the bike shed though was very friendly and helpful always. Our room (Derry) was cramped and had one window which looked out onto a construction site. Builders would be standing there looking into our window. At no point were we warned that there was construction taking place.

The condition of the Lodge Room was in poor condition, tripped over lumpy carpet. New bed needed too

Lovely hotel, staff very friendly and helpful. Ground are beautiful. Highly recommend fo couples and families alike

Was impressed with the facilities such as the swimming pool and the conservatory!

Most liked? V kid friendly. Hard to find in UK... Friendly helpful staff. Grt food. Nice room. Beautiful grounds. Loads of activities. Loved the pool!
