A magical place to stay

Hotel is nice, lovely historic building - friendly staff! I was in a fairly basic room, but it was pretty good!

We had a two night stay in this lovely hotel. Saskia on reception was very helpful giving me a quick tour of the ground floor before directing me to our room. The room was very spacious and had a luxurious feel. The bathroom was very well equipped with some lovely toiletries. The towels were big enough and the flannels were a plus. We ate in the hotel restaurant on our first night and the food was nice. The waitress Emma was attentive without being intrusive. We did take advantage of a dip in the swimming pool during our stay, a great asset to the hotel. The gardens and access to Ickworth House next door was good too. Only a couple of things of note, I asked 2 different staff members for extra pillows as the ones on the bed were very soft but these did not appear and when housekeeping had finished servicing the room on the second day they left the door unlocked which was not appreciated as we had some valuables in the room and there wasn’t a safe, I’m sure it was an oversight and I did inform reception. If you are looking for a relaxing stay then do not visit in the school holidays as this hotel is very family friendly and appears to cater extremely well for children.

Very relaxing two day stay. Low-key feel: building is very grand and there are relatively few rooms in the main hotel so it’s more like staying in a large country house than a grand hotel. Hotel is geared for families, which is not a problem, and grounds are fantastic. Only negative is the conservative dining menu.

On 3pm arrival room not ready, then told we would be in The Lodge approx 5min drive or 15min walk from hotel and amenities. This was not made clear on booking, the lodge was dirty no where to put clothes though some hanging space.The furniture shabby and certainly not what we expected. I complained told no accomodation available in hotel but clerk would speak to the manager. Later had call to say we would be moved to hotel, our room was okay but carpets and very large mirror dusty and the shower fitment loose and sink and bath very slow to drain.I also ?whether sheets had been changed blood stains present. Both windows rattled had to correct with some paper. Generally we felt the hotel lacked atmosphere and needed a good clean including the pool and surround only one shower working. Housekeeping and maintenance need upgrade. Needless to say we would not return or recommend.

Hotel is in lovely grounds of NationalTrust Ickworth estate with parkland walks from the hotel door. Staff were welcoming and friendly and the breakfast was good. I would stay again.

Everything was perfect start to finish. Stunning grounds and rooms and wonderful staff. Dream stay.
