GBGBI loved the relaxed atmosphere of the hotel. The staff members working clearly enjoyed working there or was good at faking it. The grounds are beautiful and free to walk around the spa facilities are very good with a sauna, steam room jacuzzi and swimming pool. The breakfast had a great selection and the restaurant appearance had clearly been given a lot of thought. If you have pets there is a small pet friendly area next door. The room was a deulux room im the main house, the room had many of its original features and fittings which the hotel had clearly intentionally kept.
The room was in slightl need of a spring clean. It wasnt grubby but the curtains had some staining and the carpet was worn out. However this is being picky.

I booked this hotel because it had a pool and paid extra for that reason. Unfortunately the pool was closed to hotel guests when I wanted to use it because it was booked out for private swimming lessons. In fact it was close for 3 hours at just the time that I would imagine most guests would want to use it after a day out (3.45 to 6.45 pm). The duty manager was very apologetic and had not realised this was the case. As we were only there the one night and leaving early the following morning we were not able to use the pool at all. He very kindly gave us a refund on our evening meal by way of compensation, which was very much appreciated. Should you wish to use the pool I would suggest you check the opening times before or on arrival.

Room was in a pre fabricated style 1950's building made of concrete external the main building it looked awful and wasnt what was advertised. Very disapointing. The Spa and pool was run down, outdated and worst of all souless.
