A quiet location with beautiful grounds to wander in. The restaurant was very good with excellent staff.

Despite booking the best available rooms the windows were screened with no ability to see outside from the room ( light did come in). A real pity not to have a view . This made it quite unpleasant to relax in our room. The two seats provided were not comfortable to sit in even if we had wanted to. The leisure facilities are pleasant but unavailable for 3 hours in the afternoon, when we had planned on using the pool, due to private hire.

Hotel was well situated in parkland. The staff are very helpful and friendly. The pool is warm and clean and the steam room pleasingly steamy. Best of all was the evening meal which was faultless, excellent chef and perfect sized portions. Buffet breakfast was extensive, well cooked and warm and despite there being a conference that morning there was no need to queue for food. Bed was comfortable and the room shower powerful.

Although the main building is Georgian and most of those rooms attractive and comfy the remaining parts of the hotel including the restaurant need thoroughly cleaning and refurbishing as they look tired. Both the shower in the Garden Wing and the changing room shower lacked sufficient ventilation causing the grout to grow black mould which is never pleasant to see. The enclosed gardens could be attractive but despite it being June were lacking colour and interest. The outside chairs had been left to the weather which was very wet during our visit, the furniture was allowed to blow around and the cushions were sodden. The Garden Wing is a dreary example of post war brutalist architecture and need repainting at the very least and the corridors are poorly ventilated and smelt a bit doggy.

The main house is clean and interesting.

Didn't like having to walk so far outside to get to breakfast. Had to go to reception to get a pass to use the pool to go back to use the pool, and also what times breakfast was served. No feedback form to leave in case not everyone has email for contact. More information in the room. Poor breakfast: not hot, had a strange taste, cold eggs, dried-up mushrooms, sausages fine, and hash browns fine. Cold room on a bad windy day with no heat to turn on. No info in the room to get more coffee. Only one decaf tea bag for two people in the room and just one biscuit per person is meager.

Good customer service - friendly and professional.

Some rooms and areas are tired but this has been the case for many years and doesn’t impact the experience.
