Ala Kai Bed and Breakfast

Mary was delightful. Nice view of the ocean, beautiful breakfast, pool. I'd stay there again!

Out of the way location 30 minutes from Hilo about an hour to the volcano. Good spot just know like many places on the island you will be surrounded by coqui frogs at night.

Mary was an awesome host. The breakfasts were delicious. The other guests were great company during breakfast. The view from the lanai was fantastic. We even saw whales while we ate. She was accommodating when we needed to extend our check out.

Mary is a very welcoming hostess and is very helpful and flexible in accommodating requests. She feels like a friendly next door neighbor you can sit down and have a cup of coffee with. We appreciated all the advice and assistance she gave us and her recommendations were insightful and honest. Staying at this B & B really added quality and value to our entire trip.

My husband and I enjoyed everything about our stay. Mary made sure everyone was taken care of. The amazing views and singing frogs really topped off our stay.

We enjoyed a peaceful and picturesque 3 days at the beautiful Ala Kai B&B. The beds were very comfortable, the views of the wild ocean from the lanai were amazing. Our host Mary was filled with info about nearby hikes, restaurants and local markets yet was not intrusive. Breakfasts were wonderful with plenty of local coffee, fresh fruit, breads, jams and each day a different special such as banana macadamia pancakes with guava syrup. She even offered us her well stocked picnic basket to use for our trip to the beach. We loved the place!

Amazing property, clean, spacious, quiet. Sitting on the front porch you hear the sound of the waves and the birds and frogs. Amazing tropical surrounding. So much better then staying in 5 star hotel. Breakfast: Best macadamien nut, blueberry, banana pancakes I ever had. Served with a large variety of fruit. Thank you Mary for taking such good care of us.

The hostess Mary is fantastic. She is very welcoming and friendly. The breakfasts are incredible as well. Ala Kai has an official greeter who goes by Shakespeare. He and Mary have a great bed and breakfast location that is very comfortable as well.

Great location for what we wanted to do in Hilo. Great breakfast, clean, ocean across the street great sunrises.

The b&b was just what I thought it would be tucked back into the island right off the coast really quite and beautiful.
