Ala Kai Bed and Breakfast

The room had private access, was very clean, and had amenities (coffee, tea, books, towels, etc). The view was beautiful and there was a walking trail along the cliffs that was easily accessible from the property. The host was kind, provided great breakfast, and had wonderful recommendations. I would definitely stay here again!

Mary the host was excellent. She was very knowledgeable about the island. We liked her restaurant and sightseeing suggestions. Her breakfasts were very good. There usually was a hot item, fresh fruit and bread. The dining was outside with a great view of the ocean and sunrise. The room (bamboo room) was clean with a mini-refrigerator and microwave. We found the location was good for our purposes, since it was close to Hilo and the Volcanos National Park. What we disliked the most was the drive to return to the B&B at night. (no street lights and rolling nature of road).

We stayed three nights in the cottage at Ali Kai Bed and Breakfast. The accommodations were very nice and Mary was wonderful. She greeted us when we arrive and got us "settled in". Breakfast each morning was more than expected with an entree, fresh fruit and breads, juices, infused water, coffee and tea selections. Mary greeted each guest at breakfast and spent time talking with all. She was also very helpful in suggestions of places to see and eat in the area. Ali Kai is secluded and peaceful and I would highly recommend it.

This room and location were very convenient for our needs. Beds were comfortable, plenty of hot water and towels.

The B&B was with great view of the ocean and nicely maintained property with tropical plants and trees. The wraparound porch provided a great view all around. The breakfast was home made and tasty. The owner provided privacy and great accommodation, including a 10% discount to a local great restaurant.

It was so nice and comfortable to stay there. Ms. Mary’s breakfast was the best!

Gorgeous view, relaxed atmosphere & check-in/out process. Mary offered wonderful recommendations for food, fun, and of course breakfast was out of this world. I will gladly come back here vs. going to a resort in Hawaii anytime!

I came here for business, but wanted to stay in a spot that had more of a local feel. I loved waking up to the view of the sunrise across the street! The area was quiet, but had beautiful views. Valerie and Bob greeted me and made awesome breakfast for me every morning. They gave me recommendations on restaurants and made sure I was as comfortable as possible. The place even had great small touches like ear buds for loud frogs at night and bug spray just in case! The room I stayed in was clean and had all the amenities I needed. I would definitely come back again!
