Mercure Siracusa Prometeo

When we first checked in the two men at the counter continued a conversation before acknowledging us. Once they finally looked up and helped us they were helpful. THe hotel is across from the ruins but not much in the area. We like to walk so didn't mind walking to the sea and restaurants 30 minutes. Service was great. We ate late at the bar area and the staff was extremely friendly. The breakfast was included and was ok. It consisted mostly of pastries and no egg options. The pastries were very good and staff friendly.

The hotel is conveniently located if you are using a car. It is close to the main road connecting you to the highway, and also within walking distance to Ortigia and other sights in Siracusa. The walk to Ortigia is about 30 - 40 minutes (they will tell you 20, but don't believe it) to get into the center of the town, and it's not a difficult walk. Nearby you should visit the archaeological park which is right across the street (do it early in the morning), and at least one of the catacombs which are only a 5 minute walk away. And there is a gas station and supermarket within one block. Breakfast was plentiful and good food, so you can fill up before you start your day. Everything was clean and worked very well. The room was very comfortable.

This is my second attempt at sumbitting a review - apparently the mobile phone application did not work; sorry if this is a repeat. This hotel was perfect - friendly, helpful staff, generous and delicious breakfast, a good healthy walking distance from the center to work off the gelato and pasta. We would stay here again, definitely. The onsite garage parking was good and secure.

Wonderful staff,updated sorroundings and overall structure, near Ortigia

Good standard with comfortable room and excellent breakfast. Next to the archaelogical park and 20 minutes walk to Ortygia which are both beautiful. Hotel didn't offer car hire so arrange before you leave. Pool on the roof is an added bonus to relax at after a long day sight-seeing.

The hotel offers a good standard of accommodation. The rooms are not large but are modern and well appointed. There is a rooftop pool, bar and dining area. The barman was particularly friendly, welcoming and an asset to the hotel.

Only difficulty was the tight parking spaces but we managed.

I stayed here for ten days on holiday exploring Syracuse. Some aspects of this hotel were excellent, namely: 1) The staff were all friendly and helpful; 2) the room was spotlessly clean; and 3) the air conditioning worked perfectly. However, I have some complaints! 1) I had opted for a deal with breakfast included in the room rate. When I arrived, I was charged 10 euros a day extra for breakfast. 2) I had specifically selected this hotel because it appeared (from the grossly faked photo on the website) to have a proper swimming pool. When I arrived, it turned out to be not much more than a toddlers' paddling pool, only fit for a goldfish to manage any decent swimming. 3) The hotel doesn't offer a proper dinner menu, and since it's situated the other end of town from the tourist night life, there isn't much alternative choice. But once again, full credit to the wonderful staff!

Clean, comfortable with effective ac! Very nice rooftop bar and pool. Good base for a visit to Syracuse as long as you don't mind staying away from the main bar and restaurant area of the town (which we didn't). Free car park although a bit snug and an adventure to get in and out of. Recommended
