Airport Hotel Basel

Great service is what we liked. Beds not that great is what we didn’t like.

If you're looking for a place to have a quick meal and prep for your flight, or sleep off part of your layover, then this may be the place for you. The staff definitely are the stars of the show there. Overall, its a really nice hotel with a great atmosphere. The front desk staff was super friendly, and accommodating. The room we stayed in was clean, and much larger than the ones in the downtown Basel area. The only challenge with the rooms was that the air conditioning didn't work very well, didn't have clear temperature settings, and even on the lowest setting it was not cooling enough during our stay to make it comfortable in the room. We had to switch rooms because the first room was not cooling at all and it was reading at 28 Celsius/82 Fahrenheit. The restaurant was very elegantly decorated, and had a decent range of food options for just about every palette. However, the two dishes I had during my stay were really bland and lacked presentation for the ~30 CHF sticker price. The real downside to this hotel is that there is only one method of transportation that you could realistically take from the hotel into the city, and that is the 50 bus to the Tram/Rail station. There was not much traffic on that street other than those busses so don't expect to catch a taxi. The shuttle service to the airport is on a reservation basis and did not operate early enough to get us to our 7 AM flight so don't count on it if you're planning on an early departure or arrival.

The reception staff was great! Dominic went above and beyond. He helped us with getting train tickets and answered all our questions about Basel. The breakfast was also great. Good food, lots of choices and a great atmosphere. My husband especially enjoyed all of the airplane motif.

Clean, close to airport and cheerful. Would recommend and will stay there again.

The staff at reception were extraordinarily helpful. They gave us a pass for public transportation, and the closest bus stop was just a few steps away. We were there for a river cruise leaving from Basel, and the hotel shuttle took us right to the embarkation point. The hotel is comfortable though not extravagant. Everything works the way you would expect it to.
