Riverside Hotel

Location was great, free car parking was good

Room was fine. Needed a deep clean which was fine until a bug crawl out from behind the mattress at the headboard to say hello and then ran back when I jumped up so couldn’t get a photo. I google what it was based on the shape, which stated it was an adult bed bug. I could get out of there quick enough Tried to say to staff on check out but no one there

The location of the hotel was very nice, set next to the river and a short walk into the town center. There was also free covered parking, which was very helpful albeit quite badly sign posted. Breakfast was also fine.

We stayed two nights either side of a friends wedding, Thursday and Saturday, and both rooms where rather scruffy having seen their best days many years ago. The first room had a horrible smell even after sleeping with the window open the entire evening. This room was also very tatty with stained lampshades, big chips to the plaster / paint. The second room didn't smell which was a great thing. But the bathroom was not clean, with pink slime on much of the grouting, the bathroom cabinet was falling apart with the coating falling off. One of the lampshades was barely hanging on the wall. I'm sure once upon a time this was a nice hotel, but that was quite some time ago.

The reception staff were lovely and very accommodating check in was pretty much sorted on arrival to make it a very smooth experience for 20 people. The pool and sauna are fantastic some of the guests have said they would like to return with their families. We didn't eat within the hotel but had a few drinks in the bar which again was a lovely comfortable setting.

Rooms slightly small rooms. Would have preferred an option for twin rooms but we knew what we were booking so no issues.

Great location right next to the river and a few minutes walk into town. Excellent staff, lovely full English breakfast buffet!

Rooms could be updated. Other guests were very noisy from 2am-3.30am - a group of men came back in the early hours shouting, banging, slamming doors which kept us awake.

Perfect location for us taking on the ultra challenge. Had a view of the river from our room.

The staff were great and the bar/restaurant was very nice.

The rooms were a little dated and needed updating.
