"Step back in California history"

One of oldest California hotels and full of history and charm. Friendly staff and the chef is first class. Service was great and hope to return. Stay in hotel vs. extended areas for a better experience!

"Historic delight!"

This was our second stay at this impeccably designed historic hotel and we couldn’t love it more. Comfortable, vintage vibes, ornate bar, friendly staff. Very calm and unified experience, plus it’s located at the heart of the adorable gold-mining town of Grass Valley surrounded by the fabulous foothills.

"We enjoy staying at the Holbrooke"

This was our 2nd time staying here. It's a very nice hotel and fits our needs (location especially plus they have an elevator, restaurant & bar). Will definitely stay here again

"Wonderful historic hotel."

Loved the hotel and town! Staff was very helpful--especially when I called to try and understand my bill after we got home. Wait staff at the bar was uber friendly--a big shout out to Hannah! Also--the location can't be beat if you want to explore the downtown. It IS noisy if you are in one of the suites facing the front street--so take your eye mask and ear plugs. One thing to note--there is a $20 a day amenities fee that is not mentioned when booking the room. Just be aware. Also--I do think they need to upgrade their morning breakfast offerings. Some fruit and other options would not be amiss.

"The Perfect Anniversary"

From the moment we arrived, we were wonderfully treated. The staff was warm and inviting, and the atmosphere was ethereal. The food during dinner was incredible, and breakfast was so cozy and relaxing. Our room was not only clean and comfortable, but so beautiful to be in. Our only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.

"Very relaxing"

Location is amazing. The restaurant and bar in the hotel are exceptional. Staff very attentive. Every employee looked you in the eye and greeted you. Also, get the Brussel sprouts.

Parking can fill up on busy nights

"Lively, cozy fun vibe"

I'm so glad they had state rate. I've booked 4 days next week. Walking distance to 4* Restaurant. The temperature in the rooms were perfect. Quiet time was very respectful.

"A Real Gem"

The hotel is well situated, especially for a music event at The Center for the Arts. The staff, rooms, restaurant, bar, and breakfast are all first-rate. I am a very happy regular customer!

"Good"

The room was nice, but not what I booked. Breakfast was not good at all. I really expected a better breakfast, for the HolBrook.

The room I booked, was not the room I got. The pictures on the website for the room I wanted was not the room I got.
