The Essex Golf and Country Club

We stayed for one night and wanted somewhere easily reachable from 2 visits we were making over 2 days. This location was convenient and also quiet for a good nights rest. We didn’t use the restaurant. We used the pool facilities in the morning. Which was lovely and clean. The hot tub was out of order though which was a shame as I was looking forward to it. The bedroom was clean and modern with everything you need for a good rest. Lots of parking.

First up, the staff were very friendly, and the breakfast was fantastic (especially the chance to sit on the terrace to eat it). However, the actual room was appauling. Although clean, there was no air conditioning, so it was like a furnace. The walls and ceiling are paper thin, so it sounded like a herd of bufallo were upstairs, and due to the requirement to keep the windows open, it's extremely noisy. Also, the windows open straight onto the car park so choice between melting or choking on exhaust fumes. No instructions anywhere in the room regards things like strange lights that turned on when flicking switches, yet appeared to do nothing else. Broken bathroom fittings, and empty soap dispensers. Again, the staff were great, but next time will pay the little bit extra to stay at a holiday inn.

It was a wonderful stay, very Morden clean and comfy... staff was nice and friendly, me and my family really enjoy our stay :)

Lovely room, polite and helpful staff at all levels, excellent experience, the only thing I’d mention is the poor WiFi, we had attended a funeral and would have liked to unwind with a film or similar but were unable too

Cleanliness is terrible The pillow is stained There are shredded paper towels in the water pot， The menu is covered with food stains Putting my child on a bed that is not long enough

Great location, but the rooms weren’t clean. Breakfast was a nightmare. They took forever getting the breakfast items out. Staff too slow to take away dirty plates. Staff don’t acknowledge you are waiting and they chatter to each other.

I enjoyed my stay and will be coming back very soon

Lovely stay with a beautiful view of the golf course the kids loved it was so chilled out the hole time we will definitely be coming back to stay in future and and have a game of golf to

Really enjoyed our stay here. Room was lovely, carpet was dirty but minor problem. Food was great however the sausage with the mash was a bit chewy. Staff were lovely and friendly. Only issue we had was a large group of inconsiderate people at 1am arriving in taxis laughing and shouting outside our open window (it was hot). Not the staff's fault however assumed security would of dealt with them. The noise went on for about 20 mins. Other than that love it and would definitely come again.
