The Essex Golf and Country Club

Lovely hotel linked to the golf club. Gym and spa are great.

The hotel charged me for the stay. Thankfully I later realised that I had already paid through you and was able to get a refund! The room was lovely and clean. The aura treatments were great. Didn't use the pool because it didn't feel inviting, I was looking for calm and relaxed. Similarly the restaurant had loud pop/club music which was really off putting whilst trying to enjoy an evening meal & breakfast. I already have another stay booked but I won't be returning after that.

If you are a female solo traveller, I would say avoid this hotel. Not only was it covered in mould in the bathroom, with the toilet not properly cleaned, the vent clogged with dust, and the soap holder all grimy, but the main problem for me was that there was an unlocked pair of doors that opened into the next guest's room (giving some random person access to my room if they wanted it)!! So incredibly unsafe. Safe to say, I barely slept and was worried all night.

Nice hotel only thing house keepers makes lots of noise if you still sleeping round 10 clock on wards …the rest of hotel nice and quiet

Excellent value for money, room was clean and modern, spa very good and food was extremely good.

Found room boiling due they had activated central heating and can not be controlled room by room. Receptionist said "this is England". Also rooms had no isolation and no door seal, so you will hear doors banging all the time from other clients.

Very disappointed - room was dusty and needed a deep clean, bed uncomfortable, no A/C, tv remote didn’t work. Basic room, no upgrade. Food was average and expensive, breakfast was a mess - hot food not replenished quickly, coffee machine needed refilling and staff member rude. Hotel in the middle of nowhere by an industrial estate in the countryside, no walks to amenities. Clientele made us feel uncomfortable. Parking good, pool, steam, sauna and hot tub very good and grounds nice. Reception staff excellent and dealt with my complaint efficiently.
