The Essex Golf and Country Club

The stay at this hotel was not great. I was very shocked by the quality of my room. The bed sheets had stains and marks on them. There was broken glass on the carpet next to the bed. There was no mini fridge in the room or air conditioning. There bathroom ceiling was disguising and had a watermarks which looks old. The smoking area of the was next to our room so we could smell the cigarettes and hear the chatting every night we stayed. The only thing that was good was the service on the golf course and the golf lounge. Everything else about the hotel was rubbish - serious review needed!

The rooms are pretty basic like a Travelodge, it didn’t have air con which it does state I just overlooked. The bar over looks the golf course which is pretty, the food at the bar wasn’t very good specially for the price.

The facilities are ok, however, in this hot weather the hotel rooms really need air conditioning.

Fab place. I’ve stayed a few times and it’s always good quality. Staff went above and beyond this visit. Gym was excellent with good quality air con. My room was nice & comfy. I did 3 classes during my stay, all classes were of high quality. I had an evening meal & breakfast, again good quality. I sat out on the veranda overlooking the golf course. I also used the sauna during my visit which was one of the hottest I’ve been in! Top notch! Well done The Essex

For a golf break it’s ideal with other facilities to enjoy. We weren’t here for golf, but just staying for a wedding. The room and bathroom looked a little tired but for just sleeping in it’s ok. My wife pulled on her side of the bed cover to get in and the bedside cabinet draw came out completely landing on her foot bruising it. The breakfast was good and staff were nice.

Its a very nice place but my first room was in very bad condition. I don't even know why they are still giving this room to people... Btw its a good place to stay with familly but they definitively need to renovate there old rooms...

The leisure facilities are ok, changing room needs updating and the room I stayed in needed completely updating.

Great facilities but the room would benefit from better cleaning

Service was excellent from check in to check out. The staff are all very welcoming and friendly. Room was modern, clean and very comfortable. Fantastic facilities to cater for the whole family! Our breakfast was delicious and staff were kind to prepare a special dietary meal for my husband. Will definitely visit The Essex again.

Great venue for visiting Essex, staff were lovely, room was clean and comfortable and the breakfast was just right after a morning swim in the pool. I'll be back. Thank you.
