Alexander House

I found every single aspect of staying here to be absolutely delightful. The staff were uniformly helpful, friendly, courteous, and committed to going out of their way to make my visit comfortable and enjoyable. The building itself is a marvel - dating back to 1821, it's rustic interior features wood floors and beams that make it seem like a spacious country home, yet the furnishings are surprisingly cosmopolitan, as though the former owners had traveled all over the world and brought back artifacts for guests to enjoy. The 24-hour service - from check-in to room service to dining and drinking in the restaurant - was a real bonus. I very much look forward to staying at the Alexander House again in the near future - in fact, it's one of the main reasons I am planning to return to St. Petersburg this summer.

Very pleasant stay

I spent 4 days here, enjoyed it enormously. The staff is excellent, motivated and professional. Walked to major sites - St. Isaacs, St. Nicholas's, Mariinsky. Slightly longer walk to Sadovy Metro and Nevsky. Breakfast good, coffee also. Professional service, kept track of details, taxi, airport pick up, laundry. Excellent. Would return.

Huge loft apartment. Really quiet. Even though we were there during white nights, excellent windows and shades block the light completely so it was our first time in weeks that we manage to sleep 10+ hours (wife super sensitive to light and noise). Shared library with fireplace. Decent wifi. Super polite and friendly staff. Surprise bottle of champagne in the evening for my wife's birthday. A truly great value stay. Just get ready to walk a lot as the downtown is pretty far. Walking to Metro + walking inside stations + the ride = almost the same as walking directly to Nevsky. Plus, Metro is super shady - rode it four times and was attacked by pick pockets twice.

The staff is friendly and helpful. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated. The restaurant food is consistently good - although the options are limited. The only slight negative is that the hotel is a bit off the beaten path. My hunch is that you won't find a better hotel in St. Petersburg.

Great Hotel! Cozy and staff very friendly. Is a little off the beaten path, but can get to metro or city center with a short bus ride (thanks Google Maps)

We had deluxe "Mexico" room at back of building overlooking the courtyard. It was very quiet, spacious, and comfortable. The breakfasts were good, the staff responsive but unobtrusive, and the location (just down the block from St. Nicolas church and the Marinsky Theater was convenient to tourist sites. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Alexander House.

I really enjoyed staying at the Alexander House hotel. It was charming with friendly and efficient staff and it was wonderful that the kitchen was open at all times so you could get good food and drink whenever you wanted. They were extremely helpful about calling taxis for me whenever I wanted and everyone there was courteous and delightful. My only minor quibble is that one window in my room didn't have very efficient blinds so the light got in and if I had been there during the summer white nights that might have been a problem. But in general I loved the hotel, would definitely return if I revisited St Petersburg and would recommend it to friends.

Only slight downside is that it is away from the centre however it is still within walking distance of most sights. A nice warm (almost too well heated!) hotel with very good and friendly staff who all spoke very good English. A good selection of good quality food in the restuarant and a nice touch is that breakfast is until 11am (11.30 at weekends) Can be throughly recommended.
