Peaks of Otter Lodge has a beautiful property on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It is comfortable (great king mattress) and cleans, shows some signs of aging, but perhaps that is part of the charm. The walls are concrete, so it was quiet at night. EVERY ROOM in lodges 1 and 2 have a view of the lake! The A/C was great! There are some hikes, including an option to purchase a shuttle ride up Sharp Top Mountain to walk up to the summit (steep stairs, a little tricky!) .The restaurant has a magnificent view, and the dinner prices were very reasonable. However, there was confusion over the breakfast menu, because they just switched to breakfast buffet only, and no customers and a few employees did not know about it. Another mix-up was that we were given room keys to a room someone was staying in- my husband went in and found items there! They did find us another room and comped us meal vouchers. I would definitely stay there again to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and the convenience to the Parkway!

We loved the setting and view from our deck. The food in the restaurant was very disappointing. For the cost, we expected a superior meal. They wouldn't even give us a piece of bread with our meal. We will definitely not eat there again on our next visit.

Property is clean but dated. Dinner was good with reasonable prices. Breakfast was not worth the price. The Holiday Inn Express free breakfast is much better. The orange juice was watered down, the toast was cold, the jelly selection was minimal, the grits were tasted blan, the scrambled eggs were plentiful and the bacon was either over cooked and some under cooked.

"Peace and Quiet at Peaks of Otter Lodge on the Blue Ridge Parkway"

10.0

We love staying at the Peaks of Otter Lodge along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Our many visits here have always been enjoyable. The peaceful setting is a wonderful soothing experience around the lake. Meals are very good and include breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We tried the pulled pork and blackened sea bass which were both excellent. Great birding along the loop trail and in the picnic area. Nice gift shop with Peaks of Otter gifts amusingly abbreviated "POO" are great! Three accessible rooms are located in the main building with an elevator to reach them. All the other rooms have steps leading either to the second floor rooms which have a balcony overlooking the lake or to the first floor rooms which have a step outside to the grounds.

My wife and I had a delicious and relaxing meal with a lake an mountain view in the background. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. The service was gentle, respectful, and inviting. The grilled pork entree and the broccoli cheddar soup were astounding!

The view was amazing, unfortunately that's the only good thing I can say about this place. It is old and dilapidated, it was maybe remodeled 40-50 years ago. The shower gel and shampoo containers in the bathroom were empty. We had a king room but they only gave us one washcloth. The furniture was ancient and should have been replaced years ago and the carpet was filthy. No microwave or refrigerator. When we walked in the room there was a strange, musty smell that we attributed to it probably being closed up for a while. But about 11pm we were laying in bed watching TV when i looked up and saw what appeared to be black mold on the wall near the ceiling. I took pictures of it. We complained to the front desk the next morning. The lady had my partner hold while she talked to the manager, who said we should have come to the desk when we saw the mold. Really?? At 11pm when we had our PJ's on? My partner asked to speak to the manager and was refused. I have stayed at the Pisgah Inn before which is similar to this lodge but much, much cleaner and updated. This was the worst room I have ever stayed in for almost $200.
