Park Royal Homestay Club Cala Puerto Rico

Resort is nice. Room is in need of updating and decorating, very spartan. Clean. good location. Nice pools, staff. Living room/kitchen area not very pleasant. Nice walk to ocean. Swam in it a bit, very nice, but the beach is covered in seaweed—maybe seasonal? We spent as little time in the room as possible.

Park Royal is a beautiful property in the gorgeous Palmas Del Mar community. Everyone was so helpful and accommodating. The 3 bedroom unit was very spacious and allowed our group of 6 (and sometimes 8) to be very comfortable. The only slight inconvenience was that the kitchen only had very basic necessities. But that didn't stop us from making several meals. An added bonus was the plaza with so many food options and types of restaurants was a short walk from the property. The pool with music and pool bar was so much fun and gave us a couple relaxing days when we weren't enjoying El Yunque, Old San Juan, or snorkeling near a beautiful reef. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely come back!

Far from airport but no complaints

We were excited to come to Puerto Rico and stay at Park Royal. Well, It ended up being a real nightmare. First, we couldn't find where to park for check-in, So my husband had to drop me off and I walked in to register, while he drove around. I was told to park in the $25 per night lot. So, we got checked in and they had the audacity to put us in probably the oldest and most run down dump. Smelled of mold, tub finish was worn away, doors were broken, under sinks were water stained and moldy, kitchen counter was glued together, I could go on. The next day we asked to be moved. WELL we had to wait until a manager got there......around 1 or after. We were showed two more units and took one that looked the most updated. Why didn't they give us this one in the first place???? A male worker, wish I would have gotten his name, helped us move by bringing a 4-wheeler to load our belonging on. He also told us we could park in the FREE lot across from check in. Saved us a ton of money and messing around trying to pay each time we left. He was very friendly, knew the island, and gave us some pointers. So this unit was better, but wasn't perfect. The oven handle simply fell off the one side, the screw came out. Speaking of the oven, no baking sheets, or oven mitts were in the unit. Kind of hard to bake without those. The washing machine was bound for take off on the spin cycle. I seriously thought it was it had vibrated out of the laundry room. Temperature was hard to regulate. The dishwasher would just come open, so had to really make sure it was very tight and had to push the start button a few times to get it started. The pool area was nice. We used the dolphin one. The area seemed safe. I would never come back or recommend this place.

The resort is a good secure location, the staff are friendly. However the 1st unit it smell to puré Clorox that you couldn’t stay there. The 2nd unit we got is was okay in the location in front of the Pool, but the appliances had mold and very old. Definitely, the unit needs to be inpected more careful by supervisor/ manager before it is giving to the guest. (Including the kitchen utensilios) . P.S.

The resort is older but very nice. The staff were friendly and helpful. My only annoyance was the uncomfortable plastic bracelet that we wore throughout our stay, though I understand why it's part of their process. Maybe a thinner design would result in a more comfortable fit. Over our stay it began to be increasingly more uncomfortable (I have sensitive skin, maybe it's not an issue for others).

but the fact that isn't ideal for handicapped people for so many stairs. Needs a bar by the toilet and slipping protection in every step of the stairs. I will recommend it, but I won't visit again.
