The Primrose

Had a lovely stay here with my family and out extended family, including two toddlers. Staff was excellent and attentive, breakfast and snacks always top notch, and it was a very comfortable stay. Very good location as well and walkable around the town. Would happily stay here again.

Immediately upon entry, it felt like home with the candles and soft ambiance. It felt like fall even with it being cold outside. The staff were very friendly with checking in and checking out. We got a tour when we checked in, and I love the many offerings the Primrose had. Breakfast in the morning in the dining area, tea and snacks in the afternoon, a seating area to watch tv or relax, a water fountain, and an ice machine along with many brochures to help explore the area. Oh and the little soaps from a local company that we were offered in the room and to buy downstairs! We were even offered free glass of white or red wine of our choosing, which was so special for our couple trip! I do wish I could have bought some with card because I did not have cash. The room we had was very nice and spacious for just the two of us. The bathroom was clean which is so important! The view outside was also nice. The tv offered streaming services. Ample storage for luggage. The only "issue" there was related to the air conditioning. It took a while for it to cool down, but it was still a bit warm throughout, but I understand that it is also trying to cool the entire place. Great location that is separate from the busy downtown, but still close enough to everything that you can walk and not have to worry about paying to park! I would definitely be staying here in the future and recommending to everyone! I felt like I was in a Gilmore Girl's episode!

After flight cancelations and delays, my wife and I finally made it to the Primrose for our first trip to Maine. We were greeted by Anna, who was wonderful and gave to us an introduction to Primrose. Anna also provided a glass of wine and diet coke which was much appreciated after two stressful travel days. Coffee was ready when I came down at 7 every morning. The coffee was made by Carrabassett Coffee Company and was so good that I order a couple of pounds of coffee from Carrabassett’s website when we returned home. The breakfast was delicious and very well presented. Billy served perfectly the breakfast. The Chef and staff were talented and many thanks to Reekel, Alondra, and Martha. My wife and I enjoyed an incredible 3 nights in the Holland Suite. The bed was extremely comfortable and the entire Inn was impeccable clean. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. We met the grounds keeper in the morning and she was delightful to talk with. The Inn Keeper Brandon was very helpful and provided recommendations on day trips and restaurants. Both he and I shared a love for cars. My wife and I have recommended The Primrose to family and friends. We hope to return and stay at The Primrose in the future.

We stayed in room 6 for two nights. The Inn is really nice with a good breakfast, cozy, warm communal areas and friendly staff. The room itself was cozy, with a huge, comfortable bed. We were slightly cold in the room and the air con didn’t really do much to heat it up, but the inside of the unit was quite dirty which put us off using it. The carpet in the room has seen better days and could really do with deep clean or replacement. The walls must be quite thin which wasn’t a problem on the first night but on night two we had a loud snorer in the room next door, keeping us awake throughout the night. Not much can be done about this I guess, but worth knowing if you are a light sleeper.

Have stayed here twice now and had an amazing experience both times. The staff is extremely friendly, the breakfast is delicious and the rooms are perfect. Can’t wait to book our next stay!

My fiance & I wanted to get out of Jersey for our anniversary & Halloween, so a friend suggested Bar Harbor. We went online to look for a nice bed & breakfast and The Primrose was the first to pop up. We booked a three night stay in room 2. You're given the option of paying in full without cancellation, or with possible cancellation. We knew we were definitely going so we paid in full. The Inn is so beautiful, clean and cozy. The staff was excellent, especially Anna! She went above and beyond...even made me a fresh pot of coffee in the afternoon. The breakfast was delicious as were the afternoon treats. The Inn is within walking distance of everything. If you've never been there, make sure you bring comfortable walking shoes. The staff at the Primrose Inn are very friendly and accommodating. If you ever visit Bar Harbor, check out this place. You will not be disappointed.

My wife and I enjoyed an incredible 3 night stay at the primrose! Breakfast was excellent and room was cozy and clean. Most of all, all staff was super friendly and welcoming. Brandon keeps this place charming! We look forward to returning!

Can’t think of a thing.

Comfortable room and bed. Fireplace in bedroom exactly what was needed on a cold evening. Spacious ensuite bathroom with a fantastic walk-in doorless shower. Delicious breakfast. Cookies, tea, coffee, even candy (it was nearly Halloween), available throughout our stay. Short walk to restaurants and shops. Historic, well cared for property with a homey feel. Extra closets and coat hooks by the door made it easy to spread out in the room - even two suitcase racks. Friendly, helpful, and efficient staff!

Not a problem because we knew about it, but there is no elevator with a relatively narrow staircase in case someone has mobility challenges. We were perfectly OK with this, however.

Fabulous chef cooked delicious and different breakfasts each morning. All staff were lovely. Bed very comfortable. Lots of lovely towels. Good parking. Loved everything.
