Residence Inn by Marriott Morgantown Medical Center Area

Im so grateful we didn't pay for the 3 nights we needed in the Morgantown area. We picked this place based on the reviews and boy they were deceiving. The first red flag was the door to our room wouldn't open, we actually thought someone was in the room while we were checking in. The tv was left on which I think is odd in itself. The door took 3 attempts every time we opened it. Next the shower head had one setting because all the rest were broken, so it was hot but had no pressure. This hotel is VERY CLOSE to the airport and MANY hospitals. I think we heard 5 helicopters in a 3 hour period that sounded like they were landing on the roof. The TV remote volume buttons were busted and it was aggravating to deal with. LAST BUT NOT LEAST WAS THE BED!! That mattress was so old and wore out, it had to caverns on each side of the old pillow top. It was years overdue for replacing. To say I hated this place is being nice about it. I can't believe this place is a Marriott Property. I wouldn't stay here ever again even if it was FREE

Great place to stay

The staff was great. The food was really good. The room was very spacious. First night there was a drip in the air conditioner and in the morning they did move us to a new room. Very accommodating for their issue in the room.

Residence Inn is the ideal hotel if one is visiting Ruby Memorial Hospital or Mountaineer Field. Both are walking distance. The room itself is good sized and extremely comfortable. The staff were overly helpful and the free breakfast was very good. If there were one area I feel should be addressed it is that the televisions in the guest rooms do not always connect to the hotel's wifi. For that reason, the hotel has purchased Ruku sticks which they offer to guests. The guest service employee, a friendly younger lady, who brought the device to our room remained for nearly an hour trying to get it to work properly. While I was able to hide it better, my child made it clear he would prefer she just leave. Totally not her fault... she was just trying to help... we were never able to get the Ruku to work correctly and for the rest of our stay, I had to turn the tv on and off and adjust the volume using the button on the tv itself... which was a single button that had to be toggled between settings. Given we were only staying one night, this was not a big deal. For guests with extended stays, that would not be ideal. Wouldn't addressing the issue with the televisions themselves ultimately be a better solution?

The underlining is because: the business center works, the laundry room works, the fitness room works, the coffee in the lobby works, breakfast works. In short, everything you eagerly anticipate for your hotel stay — here at the Morgantown RI, you actually get it. Too often some things, or sometimes many things, just are not quite operational in hotels of late. We’ve all heard management excuses, oftentimes warranted because it’s so hard to get good, reliable staff. GM James has it knocked here. Every single staffer is alert and eager to help with any and everything you need to make your stay perfect. And that breakfast is terrific: delicious scrambled eggs, individual breakfast egg-sandwiches, bacon, potatoes, Chobani yogurts, breads and bagels, individual milk cartons (even fat-free, too!), oatmeal and all the toppings.
