The property is cute and quaint. It has comfortable beds. My only complaint is the walls are paper thin. We could clearly hear any talking in the hallway and in the room next to us. Other than that it’s a great place. Lots of restaurants to choose from.

"Won’t Get Fooled Again"

2.0

This is a case of misrepresentation. The photos that they use to show beautiful rooms with modern renovations and amenities are NOT what you see when you open your door! This place is basically an old hotel that is lucky to have a location that sucks vacationers into booking with them. Upon checkin, there is nobody there and you have to phone - there are two numbers - one that never gets answered and doesn’t respond to texts - and the other is just out of service. They charge very high room rates for a motel room with a thin ikea foam mattress on the bed, beat up furniture and baseboards and dirty linoleum from the 70s. I’m okay with “dated” properties if they are clean and well maintained. Here, the linoleum is blackened from never being cleaned properly. The ceiling fan in the bathroom is disgusting. The particle board furniture is damaged and waterlogged. It is run like a summer camp with a bunch of summer students behind the desk and serving. Things are in disrepair and could use carpet cleaning and power washing. The tiki bar picnic tables were all circa 1970s and most of the umbrellas didn’t work. The laminated menus were sticky with food and drink as they never get cleaned. Honestly, I was looking forward to having a nice stay and what I got was a dingy motel room in a timeshare resort with no services that I was overcharged for.

While the property was beautiful, I expected a little bit more from this caliber of hotel. For example, the walls were very thin in my hotel room, and I could hear the TV from the next-door room as well as a crying child most of the night. Apparently, there was a fitness center that was not functioning.

"Pretty view terrible restaurant"

2.0

We had Sat night dinner reservations at “The Social” the lakeside restaurant which is managed by the hotel - don’t waste your time. Not only was the service horrible, so was the food, cold and undercooked. The cocktails were not worth the hype and do not reflect the advertisement. The grounds in and around the hotel are run down. Such a great piece of property which we shared many family vacations over the years…ever since the management changed, unfortunately so did the quality. We had such high hopes for a lovely evening…

"Dirty, poorly maintained yet very expensive."

4.0

Despite an awesome location, Shore Club is one of the worst stays I've had at any price yet I paid $375 a night. I was told I could check in early, but when I got there, they said the cable provider was doing things so we had to wait. Then they told us we can't park in the lot because it is reserved for condo owners. They pointed us towards a first come first served public parking area. We had to finds street parking in a busy resort area. The hallways were a dank dark blue and led us to our very musty room. There was no way to call the front desk because it was abandoned. The sheets felt like cardboard, the bed horrible, and lighting in the room was inexplicable poor with a range of 5000K LED desk lamps and regular incandescent which made it hard to have them all on at the same time. The room had zero character or comfort. I was awakened at 3 am by somebody stumbling around the room above us as there is no sound insulation anywhere. In the morning I had to make a pot of coffee in the "breakfast library" myself because there was no one to be found even though the sign told me to "ask front desk attendant" if something needed to be replenished. There was no maid service but I did find towels in the "CLOSED" exercise room which was converted to store clean linens and towels on the floor and piled on the exercise equipment. This is a dump taking prime rates from a captive audience attending events at Road America. Here us a typical photo you can expect.

"Sadly declining resort."

4.0

1. Unfriendly owner 2. Being asked not to have pool floats on the beach because they “obstruct” people’s view. 3. Lack of access to the tiki bar… a narrow muddy cow path down a steep hill 4. Lack of signage to get to the Tiki Bar 5. Dirty Outdoor Bathrooms- NO SOAP and soap dispenser falling off the wall. 6. Broken glass outside a disgusting dumpster in the parking lot in plain view of quests with a flow of liquid draining out of the bottom. 7. No umbrellas on the beach 8. One access to the beach was locked off with a chain that said “no entrance staff only”, however, there’s no staff coming down the stairs to service customers on the beach. Yet, you’re expected to only buy beverages from the Tiki Bar 9. No working lights at night in the hot tub. Hot tub overrun with small children- upward to over 20 kids at a time. 10. The condition of the property – overgrown weeds everywhere, broken railings that need painting, splintered boards on the steps and terrible construction quality sand at the beach.

"A stay at The Shore Club in Elkhart Lake was great again."

8.0

We stayed at the Shore Club for 3 days and had a wonderful time. A big thanks to Tom, Jessica, Amber and the entire crew. The Tiki Bar and the Social restaurant had wonderful food and drinks including the Mahi Mahi specials. The pool was awesome as usual. We also enjoyed kayaking and time spent downtown. We've been coming here for about 15 years and it never disappoints. Highly recommended.
