First off this is a quiet, quaint, peaceful place that is a bit whimsical and boutique like. The lake is beautiful and the little town is cute with the little restaurants and shops. The room was very clean. The negatives are the parking. You cannot park next to where the rooms are, the lot is reserved for other properties so you have to park on the opposite end of the building where you need a different key to enter, but they do not give you that key so that’s an issue. The beds are very uncomfortable. They need to be replaced because there are large dips in the middle of them from overuse. The food that is offered is just “okay”, it is nothing special. The best items were the pot stickers and the cheese curds. The Social and the Tiki bar both were just adequate. There were about 20-30 bees at the different tables at the tiki bar which is sort of an issue. Two of us were stung. The bathrooms at the outdoor pool are very dirty and if you want to shower post lake or pool there, good luck because the water pressure isn’t more than a sprinkle. The pools are heated and the hot tub is a nice temperature. The staff was not the most helpful, I felt like a bit of an inconvenience at times. The bartender at the social was drinking the entire time we were there which is whatever, but he was mixing up drinks and making things incorrectly. The office staff were the most helpful and pleasant of the entire property.

Great location, beautiful scenery. Drinks at the Tiki bar are very strong, bartenders not very friendly. The rooms were clean and updated, but the beds were horribly uncomfortable and the walls are so thin you can hear the TV and conversation in the next room and above you making sleep difficult.

"WHERE TO BEGIN??"

4.0

This was a short 4 day getaway for my husband and I and our 4 grown kids so we had 3 rooms. Upon arrival we discovered the town to be very busy and bustling with people and families. Tried to find a place to park our cars to unload our luggage. My husband was told at the front desk "Good Luck" finding parking. Found out they have no parking for their vacationers but plenty of parking for their owners. Lots of barricaded lots saying permit parking only violators will be towed. Our building had 2 adjacent lots that were only for owners and were basically empty all week. Maybe 1 car in the big lot and 2 cars in the side lot all week. Very frustrating!! Like everyone else said rooms and hallways were dark especially the ground floor room. Our bed was very old whereas we heard springs popping everytime we moved in our bed. My sons boxspring in his room was yellowed with tinges of brown from age Im assuming. Our bathroom was so tiny and the sink outside the shower area couldnt have been smaller. Everything was lipstick on a pig when they remodeled this place. Day 1 we told them about the only chair in our room being broken but nothing was ever done. Since the only place to park was across a field, on our checkout morning we decided to back our car into the parking lot behind our room which was permit parking only and completely empty at the time and all week in order to make it easier for us to load up. This was a 10 minute deal but when we went to load our car a woman, presumably an owner or management maybe()never found out) was standing next to our car on her phone and reciting our license plate number to someone. My husband asked her if there was a problem and she said we need to remove our car because she just called the tow truck to remove our car. She said the owners pay for these EMPTY spots and they would be pissed. The hospitality couldn't have been any worse. We loved the Tiki bar, entertainment and beach and love the town but will Never stay here again. We love the Osthoff and have definitely learned our lesson. This place could be so nice and not have all these people writing horrible reviews if they just treated their vacationers better. We were treated like second class citizens compared to their owners and found that very unusual. We have vacationed all over the USA where there is a mixture of owners and renters and never treated the way we were treated at the Shore Club. So very Sad!!

"The ups and downs of The Shore Club"

4.0

I am going to split this review on customer service/room and then resort. If you have read reviews about the TV not working and cannot reach anyone that is very true. Limited lobby hours, no one to call. Yes our TV didn’t work not a deal breaker but the broken bed was. 3 nights of hardly any sleep. We had to get our own towels and garbage bags. Needless to say there is almost little to none customer service. This resort is mainly owner owned condos so I guess they feel they don’t need to offer that service. I received many I’m sorry’s and offered maybe some drinks or appetizers for the inconvenience but they never delivered on them. This was a family trip for a very special occasion and we didn’t get the rooms requested or adjoining. We made the best of it and for all the above it would give this place a rating of only a 1. Now the resort itself. We love visiting Elkhart Lake and it’s quaint village and for this it gets a 5 2 pools, beach with rentals, tiki bar with music. You can’t beat it. You can walk to other resorts and listen to there music and hit up Gesserts for ice cream along the way. Just keep in mind if you stay here don’t expect much if you have any requests or need to contact anyone.

Very dated property with no services or food amenities. The room was ok but the building needs a lot of work. No room service, no housekeeping. For $300+ per night it was really weak

Loved the updated room decor, super nice and large outdoor patio! One suggestion I would make is lose the country music at the tiki bar, completely out of place.

BEAUTiful property in serene setting , great for families with beach and pools all within walking distance. new management of property must need some time to work out the kinks but we will be back. bring towels and all necesscities. food and service was not great at tiki bar, they missed meals in our order both times we ate there but I am sure they will get better. overall worth the stay and we will be back.

"Paper thin walls = no sleep"

4.0

First and foremost, Liza in the front office was fantastic, warm and friendly. As for the hotel itself, the location is great as it was the host hotel for a sporting event we were attending. And they allow dogs. Liza gave our pupper lots of love and treats! Other than that, our stay was mostly disappointing. Immediately when we got into the room, we noticed the soap dispenser had fallen off the wall...we reported it and no one came to fix it. So, we didn't bother to report anything else. For example, the TV didn't work. Our fridge thermostat was broken. Everything we put in it was frozen solid, despite turning it down multiple times. Also, no microwaves in the rooms. And the front office isn't open 24/7, so if you need anything, make sure you stop in during the day. The rooms are pretty spacious with gated patio (ground floor) that gave us a quick way to let the dog go potty, but for some reason, they decided to make the bathrooms as tiny as possible, with the smallest sink with zero counter space. Rooms are super dark, poorly lit. And the walls are PAPER THIN, worse than any hotel we've ever stayed. We did not sleep well at all, which was a big deal for us as we were there for a triathlon and needed the rest. Each night, our neighbors rolled in at bar time, talking, laughing, being pretty loud and obnoxious. We could literally hear what they were saying. Then, they'd pass out and SNORE like chainsaws. If we hadn't been so sleep deprived, I would've laughed at the whole situation. Despite everything, we didn't complain; it's a hotel, we share walls, it is what it is, we understand. We were not afforded the same compassion, however. Our dog had some anxiety one morning and barked a lot and some guests complained. I know some folks don't understand, but our dog is family and it can be really hard to find accommodations that allow them. We sometimes board him but we'd prefer not to as he loves to travel and he's such a friendly boy. He literally brings joy and smiles to SO many people he meets, it's just so amazing. And then when boarding isn't even an option, and you can't find a sitter, it's stressful to rearrange travel plans. We were so thrilled the Shore Club allowed dogs. I just wish our experience had been better. Most of the stuff was just annoying, not a deal breaker, except for the thin walls and lack of sleep. We just can't go without good sleep the two nights before an athletic competition. For that reason, we won't be returning. The Osthoff Resort is much nicer but doesn't allow pets, unfortunately. I think we'll just have to do an Airbnb if we go back.

There is no elevator which was a problem getting items to the 2nd floor. The railings are boards and not round so that one can hold on. If you would start to fall there is nothing to hold onto to prevent the fall.
