Courtyard by Marriott Anniston Oxford

All aspects of my stay have been phenomenal. From the absolute professionalism at the front reception to the cleanliness of my room in 125. Friendliness, accommodating & thoughtful suggestions. In the mornings, my favorite meals were the breakfast bowls and their coffee. Very well maintained nice surroundings. Personal items respected & very clean rooms.

So I just paid $270 for one (admittedly Saturday) night at the Courtyard by Marriott in Oxford, Alabama. It may just be this room but it’s small and weirdly configured, not enough space for a $270 room. The bathroom is a little off, the toilet takes 5 minutes for the tank to fill (and does so in bursts, making it seem like a malfunction). Shower design is very easy to get water on the floor and very hard not to. The shower handle was a little flaky, too. There is a little sculpture thing that’s kind of fancy but insufficient surface space, hard to find places to put things. No built in USB chargers that I could see. The key-writer was broken up front and they had to go do the keys somewhere else. Every time I went to the front desk I had to wait for someone to show up. The are where they sell drinks and snacks (there are no vending machines) was woefully understocked. The up and down on the thermostat are backwards from most thermostats and the arrows were rubbed off. We also needed an extra pillow, and they didn’t have any. A hotel without extra pillows. In general, the hotel itself and the room we were in (and apparently others) are in need of general maintenance, and possibly some updating? Anyway, I just paid more for this room than I paid (corporate rate) for a nicer room in Walt Disney World (the Dolphin) also owned by Marriott. This place can’t hold a candle to the Dolphin. It is not remotely worth $270. It might be worth $170 or maybe $200 because the clear tendency of the surrounded hotels to be booked . . . But $270? Well, I paid it for the underwhelming and un-maintained accommodations. But come on, Marriott. You can do better for the money. Would not recommend to anyone unless they really had no other choice.

I did not catch her name, but the lady who worked the day shift on Monday July 10, 2023 was so incredibly kind and helpful. My car was having issues and we had to take it to the mechanic. She was so gracious and helpful in a stressful time. It takes kind souls like her that restores my faith in our world! Thank you again, I am so sorry I didn’t catch your name! LB

Floors were a bit sticky in the bathroom in our room.

This hotel was more expensive than surrounding hotels however everyone was booked. This is a very old hotel, just disappointed in the nightly rate for the appearance of stains all over their floors in the halls, carpet was not intact. The wallpaper is peeling off the wall in the bathroom. I was hot all night had ac on 65

The front desk staff was very nice and so was the Bistro cashier.

It was very dirty. They never replaced towels, even though they were put in the floor as directed. They never took the trash, nor gave additional trash bags for the stay. We literally had trash sitting on our table because our trash cans were full. The bathroom was nasty, from the shower to the taped walls to the broken door. The couch was stained. There was trash behind the curtains when we opened them up, and there were dead bugs inside on the window sill.

We had a very nice stay. The room was clean, the beds were nice, the air worked great. We also enjoyed the indoor heated pool. The water was very warm and made it a relaxing atmosphere. I would definitely stay here again.

First room they put us in was completely dirty. They had us switch . Second room seemed clean but when I got ready to get in bed there was a tissue with menstrual blood on it. I was sickened . -10000/10
