Ghent Marriott Hotel

Fantastic location in the heart of Gent. Lovely welcome from the reception team. Bed very comfy. Room was spacious and had everything you needed. Well maintained and comfortable. Staff were really committed to guest satisfaction and going above and beyond.

We stayed at this hotel in December with friends to enjoy the Christmas market in Ghent. I had a major issue in the newly renovated room’s shower, the water didn’t drain properly and I found myself having to switch it off midway through for the water to disappear. After I’d resumed and subsequently finished showering I stepped out of the cubicle and slipped on what turned out to be a completely flooded bathroom. I fell hard and fortunately didn’t bang my head but did bruise my backside and aggravated my spine - I’ve had two major surgeries on my vertebrae and the jarring was very painful and lingered for around 10 days. Before we checked out (same morning) we reported the issue to reception and asked to speak to the manager who apparently wasn’t available. Instead they sent who I think was the maintenance manager to record the issue with all my details and to also report what had happened for insurance purposes. I was told that the manager would contact me “very soon” to discuss the incident but they haven’t approached me at all some four weeks later and have ignored my message to their messenger business account. The way they (haven’t) dealt with this is unacceptable, I’ve stayed in many Marriotts over the years but have somewhat lost faith in the brand now, quite sad really.

Wonderful Hotel. The staff is fantastic. Rooms are large and comfortable. Best thing... As you are driving from train to hotel it's a typical European City. You get to the hotel and it's modern. You are directed to the "old city" and walk out the back door. You are instantly back 200 years and in Disneyland. The most beautiful sight that it had to be created by Disney. Such a wonderful location. Did I mention how special the staff made us feel?

Our stay was excellent. The staff were friendly & professional. The hotel is clean, beautiful & modern, with great rooms & incredibly comfortable beds & pillows. Parking is available at the hotel for a fee. Overall, this hotel is a stunning hotel in a fantastic location, within walking distance to restaurants, shopping, museums & supermarkets. We highly recommend it.
