Ghent Marriott Hotel

This hotel is lovely and located perfectly for walking about Ghent. The rooms have been newly renovated and our room facing the river was nearly perfect. The beds were comfortable, furnishing nice and the windows opened to the walkway below. I highly recommend this hotel. My only note is the odd choice of room lighting, or lack there of. The bathroom, while styled beautifully there is zero vanity lighting…it is such an odd thing, but one small spot light in the ceiling over your head, and only mood lighting or ambient lighting behind the mirror which makes putting on makeup nearly impossible. Large windows give natural light during the day, but again for style reasons, they have chosen decor style hanging bulbs, which are eye piercing- which we had to unscrew to turn off. The bedside lamps, same issue, they are so low to the table that the shades do nothing for the stark bulbs. I felt the lighting choices were odd, given the perfection of everything else in the room. I would love to stay here again, and maybe next travel with a lighted vanity mirror! The staff were all very kind and helpful. We stayed for 4-nights and we not disappointed!

Marriott Platinum was recognized here. Paid for a canal room because of small amount of them. Received a room that had an extra corner window to canal/river. We had excellent photots from the room. The hotel had wonderful employees...Lou, Axel, etc. The best hummus ever. Great mohitos. Good breakfast. The only con was having a canal room on Sat. night. Did not get quiet until around 4 am. Would not request (or pay extra for) a canal over Fri. or Sat. night. Lots of revellers.

** Ongoing Construction ******Disappointed in my recent stay at the Ghent Marriott hotel from Friday May 2-5th . There is currently construction going on at the hotel that has been going on since February. While I understand necessary upgrades, I feel the hotel is not transparent in this during booking. The construction on our first morning was loud and started very early and continued through our stay. The hotel offered us 3 free drinks to compensate for this inconvenience. Our hotel rooms air conditioner was also broken and they were unable to repair it. We were finally moved to a new room at my suggestion for our last night as our room was stifling hot and you are unable to open any windows. I was also again only offered a free drink for another inconvenience. For the amount you are paying for a room in this hotel I would consider other accommodations at this time.

Lovely hotel located on the river and within easy reach of the main historic attractions. We had a lovely room with 2 double beds . All newly refurbished to a high standard. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast buffet was comprehensive with good quality food.

Great location, hotel and staff! BUT building work in the hotel and adjoining rooms . Work started at 8am banging (exception Sunday) which is bad enough . Then at 9 am drilling starts one morning was 2 drills at same time so noisy you had to leave the room ! This property should not be selling rooms with this level of disturbance !

Fantastic location and fantastic staff

Hotel is centrally located but a bit difficult to discover with GPS. If you put the hotel name in, you are directed to a pedestrian area. Use the street address and you will reach the hotel and car park. Generally OK; some rooms refurbished, some not. There is construction on the site, so request a quiet room away from it

Beautiful renovated room with great view overlooking the canal. All the staff were professional and friendly.

We absolutely loved our stay at the Ghent Marriott. The back of the hotel faces one of the most picturesque views in the city and everything you’ll want to visit is just a short walk away.
