Etna Hotel

The setting of the hotel was spectacular and the service from the hotel staff was very good particularly given the circumstances where about 60 Australians who couldn’t speak much Italian were staying there. Food too was very good each of the 6 nights we stayed which was fortunate as there was pretty much nowhere else to eat out in the immediate environs. Only slight negative was the very small size of the shower compartment which would be a challenge for anyone more than modestly overweight to wash

We stayed at the Etna Hotel as part of a large group. From the moment we arrived, the staff were friendly, attentive, and welcoming. We enjoyed eating at the restaurant and hanging out by the pool. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the hotel itself is very charming. I would stay there again in a heartbeat!

The staff, the service and the hotel itself immersed us immediately into a beautiful Sicilian sojourn. There was a huge group of us celebrating the Zero-ing into Sicily birthdays. Everyone at the hotel were so helpful. The kitchen staff created beautiful and traditional Sicilian meals for us every night. The rooms were fresh and well maintained. Breakfast was fresh and flavoursome. Happy hour around the pool was a delight to roll into dinner. A truly wonderful experience by this dedicated team at the Etna Hotel.

It was quiet in the middle of Giarre. The restaurant was fantastic and staff super helpful and sweet!

This was our 2nd visit to them. The room we booked was not given to us. They said we only booked for 4 ppl when we booked for 5 and then charged us an additional $160 at check out. They blamed Expedia for not paying them properly. In addition, the room that we stayed in had NO internet because it was not attached to the main building. That caused an issue for those in my party that needed to work a few hours each day. They added bar charges to the check out and we paid cash. They took the charges off but had I not caught it, we would have paid twice. Won't be back.

Hotel familial avec vue sur l’Etna. Service à l’ancienne avec personnel nombreux et professionnel. Chambre #206 5/5 Propreté 5/5; qualité et variété pdj: 5/5 (vrais œufs brouillés, salade de fruits vraiment frais). Installations, piscine, extérieur 5/5 (transats, fauteuils etc) Restauration possible à la piscine. Tres bon rapport qualité/prix. +- 150€ avec pdj, restauration à la piscine. On sent que le propriétaire soigne les détails qui rendent le séjour agréable. Préférer les chambres à l’étage donnant sur la piscine (205,206…) plutôt que celles en face de la reception. Y retournerions nous?: oui.

Hotel location was not only remote from sights, cafes, restaurants etc, but was in an area of light engineering works, warehouses etc, and on a busy main road: so the situation was unattractive and unpleasant, although with a view of Mount Etna at the back. There was nowhere to go out of the main entrance. Beach was 45 minutes' walk along busy roads with no pavements, although we were told it would be 20 minutes' walk. It was essential to have a car: without one, it meant taxi, train and bus shuttle journeys, which needed a lot of organising and wasted a lot of time. We had had no idea that a car was essential. That made a critical (negative) difference to the holiday. Hotel was pleasant and with a nice garden and pool, clean, mostly good service (3 nights out of 7 we waited an hour to be served dinner), food at dinner was good, food at breakfast unimaginative and standard packets on the whole. We had requested quiet rooms, but one was right on the main road and was extremely noisy, and one was dark and damp - and we had to have an extended conversation with unsympathetic and almost surly reception staff to get the rooms changed. They were quieter and more pleasant, but still damp. Overall pretty disappointing, although the wider area (e.g. Taormina) is lovely and very interesting.

Beautiful grounds, fantastic views, they were gracious hosts, and the restaurant was excellent. The terrace was great for relaxing with a beautiful sunset view, the pool was lovely and very well maintained,with a small cabana bar with snacks and drinks. An overall 5 star experience

This is a lovely old hotel located in an orange grove and with an astonishing view of Mount Etna. (On my last night at the hotel, while I was dining in the terrific restaurant, the volcano erupted! It was astonishing to us travelers; to the staff it was just an ordinary occurrence. There was no danger and the eruption was more like lava seeping than an explosion from the crater.) I stayed in a lovely and comfortable private room with a garden adjacent. (avocado trees!) The room was quiet and restful. A full breakfast is served (charged to your room account) and includes lovely pastries, cakes, eggs, vegetables, fresh-squeezed orange juice, and many other delights. Dinner is served (charged to your room account) and the process is slow in the way that you want a relaxing dinner with friends and/or family to be, or even as a solo traveler. Service at both meals is attentive without smothering, and caring. There is a telescope positioned to have a great view of the volcano. Parking is easy. The hotel is easy to navigate if one has difficulty walking. It is an easy, 5 minute walk to a supermarket. Every member of the hotel staff was kind, helpful, and delighted to serve one's needs.
