"Busy hotel, great staff, pools and beach"

6.0

El Mouradi Club Selima Port El Kantaoui Great staff, beautiful pool and beach Can't deny it, everything written by guests about their experiences are true... Certainly during September the hotel is packed with guests from the neighbouring countries However the food.... when you could get near it was fresh and tasty. Always a bottle of wine on the table and litre bottles of coke Fanta and water. The Tunisian Rose was lovely. Very happy to drink that thank you! My room was bright clean and regularly serviced, bath and shower and always loads of hot water. I read the reviews and took ant traps etc, and had a great sleep every night. The staff on reception were nothing but kind when I needed help especially when I was flapping about transport problems. The mass influx of Algerian visitors is loathed by the staff too, but its beyond their control and have to put up with epic amounts of abuse and extra work. They do a great job in a difficult situation. I think British travel agents need to seriously research these times and perhaps make the dates unavailable to UK guests. We had two days after they had gone home and it 1000% better! The grounds and pools are lovely, but again those without manners would leave fag butts, spilled coffee etc without a second thought. The tall older lifeguard was great company and was always checking if we needed anything. I wasn't happy about paying for a sunbed mattress every day hey! that's a first!... but did enjoy the yoga and aqua aerobics run by the beautiful animation girls!! The animation boys and girls came round every day inviting people to darts, archery volleyball etc. Lovely people and a credit to the hotel. We took large cups with us for coffee and beer which worked well and having a nice cold pint was the envy of the poor folk drinking beer out of paper cups!! I thought the entertainment in the evening was great, especially the African acrobats and Bed of nails fella! Loved the foam party too Amazing. The beach was beautiful and the sea clean and warm. Loads of beds and parasols for guests. We ate out a couple of times but managed with the hotel restaurant most of the time. After getting over the shock of the first experience in the hotel dining room, and the sheer volume of people... we actually really enjoyed our holiday. The weather was beautiful... between the occasional epic thunderstorms... The staff are kind and friendly, bother to get to know them and ask how they are, before moaning! Remember, you're in Africa. If your Holiday enjoyment relies on the availability of English TV, chicken nuggets, chips and hairdryers in the room you should research the small print and Manage your expectations against cost and location. Thank you to all the staff, we appreciate your hard work and personal efforts to make our stay with you a happy one. You never failed to greet us with a smile and look after us. We appreciate everything ️

"Good holiday"

6.0

I visited here in June/July. It was a short 4 night solo holiday because i just needed some sun! The hotel itself is dated but for the price I wasn't expecting much. The beach is absolutely beautiful and there was entertainment every night. The animation team work very hard to make sure all the guests are having a good time. The meal times were absolutely crazy, not in a good way! It was shocking to me to see Algerian tourists pile up their plates with food and then not eat more than half of it! They will also physically push you out the way to get to the food! I found that going earlier was a little less stressful!

"Vile place, dirty, intimidating. Go somewhere else in a different area. Even the local Taxi driver advises"

2.0

Disgusting.....maybe reclassify as a male only resort! Sorry this is long. Shouting as loud as you can at reception might help to not being ignored cause this a what the four deep males would do. Intimidating being belief. We were 2 sisters white British which meant second class citizens to most of the staff and other guests. The place is dirty, broken chairs. The staff sweep and throw water but do not wipe anything and, only sweep the middles. A restaurant staff member, lifted the dirty place mats and flicked a serviette to clean a table and replaced the dirty place mats. Feeding time was a dreadful experience, worse than a zoo. Again, mostly men crowd the plate area waiting for the waiter, because the plates ran out very quickly, then the scrum commenced, plates got smashed, men grabbed 3 or 4 plates at a time. I had a plate snatched off me! Unbelievable and vile experience. The food I didn't think too bad that's when you can get to it! Another overwhelming experience. Meat content was taken from any casserole type dishes. We could never get to the freshly grilled items, because of at least 15 plus men all pushing and shoving. There was lots of pushing you out of the way. One evening my sister and I went back to our table with hardly any food and cried because of the whole embarrassing, disgusting and vile behaviour of the other guests. I had a piece of meat taken off me, I was using the serving spoon to pick up and a man was using his fingers, grabbed it off my spoon, then realised and dropped it. Left for some other unsuspecting diner. We didn't like to leave the resort to eat because locals on the street can be quite intimidating. We left this complex 3 nights early, we had had 1 room change and could not be bothered to try and move again even though in the early hours of 1 morning we were awaken by a loud fluttery, scratchy noise emitting from the plywood wardrobe. Finally we plucked up courage to open the door, nothing was there. when banging on the walls of the wardrobe, the noise ceased but came back to start again later! We have no idea what it was, but can only guess because of the lack of hygiene every where!! Pointless reporting that as the idea of someone sitting in our room early hours was not an option. In the meantime we did look for alternative hotel but came home early instead. There is more but you would get bored reading it. Top top also, get your taxi from out of the gates. Security take 20 Dinar and the complex reception take 40 dinar off the driver to get to pick you up, he then had to charge you double the date to get his money back. Learned at our cost. The reception chap then says, your problem madam. Bandits our local driver says, he also said ElMourada finished, go somewhere else!

"DO NOT STAY HERE!!!!!"

2.0

DISGUSTING is an understatement. Not at all what THOMAS COOK had advertised on their website! We paid for all inclusive and had to eat outside the resort every single day as the food was disgusting! Rooms were not even close to the pictures online, pools were not cleaned, cloudy with chunks of hair floating daily. WiFi never worked, cigaretts and spills everywhere!! Absolutly disgusting, even broken glass on the edge of one pool!!! Conplete FALSE ADVERTISING , this hotel should be shut down!!! Football pitch, tennis courts, playground, even mini golf theu advertised were not even there!!!

"Excellent"

8.0

"AVOID AT ALL COSTS"

2.0

I am highly unsatisfied with my stay here, upon arrival our room had no towels and no toiletries luckily i had my own toiletries. When requested for towels we were given them after receiving a rude look. The room was disgustingly dirty in all corners and over the floor, we also had ants in our room to which we had complained and nothing was done. The bed sheets were all stained. For 3 days in a row we asked for towels multiple times throughout the day as our room never got cleaned despite asking also. The towels would turn up after 4-5 times of asking, to which these also came stained and dirty. Within the same block to us was a bag of rubbish that sat out in the heat for about 3 days before it was collected. Staff were not willing to help so it seemed. Upon arrival we were told we could change rooms the following morning to a ‘better’ one, in which it looked like they had promised and undelivered this to everyone as the front desk was always crowded and again didn’t feel like staff wanted to help, even after telling us we could change rooms. They never did change us rooms despite being persistent with asking. Whilst on this topic the rooms are no where near as how they were advertised online. The food is no where near great and sometimes not eatable, the dining area is always an overcrowded mess. The staff cannot manage it, it is not big enough to fit everyone to which then causes arguments with other people due to the lack of seating and area. The plates were also an issue as there was never any plates and that would cause arguments to the point plates were being smashed. The plates were never clean always had food stains on and sometimes even had food left on it. The all inclusive drinks are out of bottles and always come out flat, 9 times out of 10 they were flat. There is also a crib outside the blocks full of towels and bedding which have been there the whole duration of our time. There are mattresses sitting in almost every block as well. I also find men here are extremely inappropriate towards the woman and sometimes leading to not feeling safe and or uncomfortable. The WiFi was not accessible anywhere apart from the bar, in which it hardly worked and you could just about send a text, considering how unwelcome i was made to feel on arrival this made me feel pretty unsafe as i had no use of calls with anyone until i brought a sim. The words ‘all inclusive’ means nothing to this hotel, they would give drinks out of bottles and when done at meal times they took your bottle and gave it to other tables, we were unable to finish drinks we have paid for… The Public toilets near the swimming pool area were totally filthy and pigs probably live a better lifestyle than them toilets, it smelt of pure sewage and had sewage water over draining constantly making the floor extremely dirty. Since speaking to other people who were also staying here and realising they were all experiencing the same issues repeatedly, this hotel should either be shut down or taken over and re done. Girls if you are travelling alone please be careful as me and my sister were made to feel so so unsafe and uncomfortable by the other guests at the hotel.

"PLEASE READ - AVOID IF NUT ALLERGY"

4.0

AVOID IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES. Unless you speak French or Arabic the language barrier will be a massive issue! I emailed beforehand and tried to explain my nut allergy and just got shown the food so lived off rice and beef for 4 nights as that was safest option! First holiday away with my bf, room is falsely advertised ‘flat screen tv, double bed’, got given dirty towels, bathroom had hair in it when we arrived on the walls and the cupboard was broke. Attached an advertised picture for comparison The area itself is nice but the hotel put a real spoiler on it as there’s no wifi in anywhere other then reception.
